Good heavens this is like being in a sophomore class at a community college around someone who just became “woke”

Another political topic? Why is this in “Spoken Word?” Joshuabg it feels like you’re trying to force liberal political thinking onto others in this forum with your relentless posting of such items. Are you a lobbyist for left wing politics?
As a retired prof I can tell you that our “words” in print or speech mean nothing without being grounded in The Word. Why not spend more time in the Bible and less time on political sites.

Where were you a sophomore in a community college around recently "woke" people, and how did you respond?Josh wrote:Good heavens this is like being in a sophomore class at a community college around someone who just became “woke”

No. Not a political topic. A topic on race. A social topic.MaxPC wrote:Another political topic? Well it might...=). I think the point is that "whiteness" as a social identify, in the history of this society, means white supremacy.AnthonyMartin wrote:If get set free from being white will I finally have a rhythm other than the bluegrass "bom-chik" that I can't seem to get beyond?joshuabgood wrote:Who wants to be set free from "being white" as a racial identity?

So, you’re saying that I’m a racist and a white supremacist merely by identifying as a white person?joshuabgood wrote:Well it might...=). I am saying "whiteness" as it has existed historically as western cultural phenomenon, is inherently racist. Surely that isn't controversial.Josh wrote:So, you’re saying that I’m a racist and a white supremacist merely by identifying as a white person?joshuabgood wrote:Well it might...=). Okay, so what “social identity” do you want me to have?
You don’t want me to be colourblind. In fact you’ve said desiring to be or claiming to be is racist.
Now you’re saying I can’t have a “white” social identity either. So what should I “identify” as?
