Spouse's Feelings on Your Time on MennoNet

Post by Valerie »

I suppose the only ones who can contribute to the 'answer' would be those who are married-
However those who have been married or have the gift of singleness can certainly share opinions-

Do you discuss these topics with your spouse? Share what's happening here? Is it "your own thing" and it doesn't come up?
Does your spouse find it humorous? Annoying? Edifying? Are they in favor of your time on the forum?

How does your spouse feel about the amount of time you spend on MennoNet?

Am I the only one who wonders this?

My spouse has interests of his own so my time on MennoNet doesn't bother him- I don't have a lot of time here-

I thought it might be interesting to hear what spouses think about it- perhaps I'm the only one who wonders- and then this thread will be in the "unanswered topics" category

Mine doesn't mind as long as I don't use it to interrupt her facebook time. In other wards, "shut up and quit telling me what those crazies are posting. I got my crazies to deal with."

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

I’m fined if I’m caught online after dinner on Saturday. But if I’m on Mennonet that is an exception. So I guess it rates higher than other sites.

I sometimes talk about something I've read here, or what's being discussed, but I'd say that my wife pretty much thinks it's a waste of time. But women tend to have close friends nearby, and spend more time out shopping, etc. together. Close friends. Something I've been thinking a good bit about recently. The question I've been tormenting myself with is whether I'm considered a close friend by any of the people I consider my close friends. In other words, how am I doing at being a good friend to someone else? (Shades of self-doubt.)

My wife has no problem with it because I don't let it interfere with real time activities.

Thanks for your replies- I really have been wondering through the years.

Mennodiscuss and Mennonet has been a great source of many of our conversations in the home- the challenges and perspectives and things I share with Neil has helped us wrestle through some things- on various topics of the faith. I've learned a lot on this forum and appreciate the posters each for who they are and what they share so I think at least in my home my spouse doesn't object to my time on MennoNet- it doesn't really add up to a lot of time anyway- I think he's enjoyed hearing some things (but at times frustrated at others)

Didn't hear from a lot of people but that's ok
