Does your church feel like "heaven on earth"?
I'm curious if anyone feels exactly this, I heard someone describe their church as that and it sounded so wonderful.

I'm not sure about this. My church is full of broken people waiting looking forward to the renewal of all things, but I understand there can be aspects of the new already in place.

(B) might have been at this new wonderful church less than 10 years, or
(C) they are really overlooking some things in this church, ignorantly or intentionally.

Churches that are very accepting of people just as they are can feel like heaven on earth to many people.R7ehr wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2026 6:07 pmMy sense, is that the people saying this sort of thing might haveunknown_dove wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2026 8:01 am I'm curious if anyone feels exactly this, I heard someone describe their church as that and it sounded so wonderful.

While there is a definitely a point to accepting people for where they are in the journey and not expecting too much, to accept people as they are, in the strictest sense of the term, is not something churches should be known for in all situations.
I want people to accept me as I am in any way that I am reflecting Christ. In ways that I am not reflecting Christ, I want them to reprove me and call me higher.
Having said that, there are churches that do a really good job of encouraging each other in the faith and helping people belong, and I commend them for this. This is too rare in many churches.

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

I'm not sure feeling is always the best way to evaluate a church.

I don’t see how anyone can make that claim when you read enough about Heaven - the best of churches is not that!unknown_dove wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2026 8:01 am I'm curious if anyone feels exactly this, I heard someone describe their church as that and it sounded so wonderful.
There should be some aspects of our hutches that are a taste of the heavenly- God designed the OT Church to be patterned after that in ‘some’ ways and same with New Testament Church patterned after that (the Orthodox Church is representative of that being that pattern also which is beautiful) but I think these are far from the Heavenl we read the description of- which is why we look forward to that.

I haven’t been to Heaven yet so of course my experience is limited. But every Sunday the worship that is ongoing in Heaven breaks through time and space and in a limited way we join in. So yes, during the worship, it does feel like Heaven on Earth.
