Just to say, after a few days, the Paris incident might not have been noticeable.
No, Paris is not that efficient nor as clean. If someone wants to see the Eiffel and the Louvre, sure, go to Paris for a day or two. But there are much nicer cities to visit.
My sister enjoyed Quebec Canada more than France & thought the people were friendlier too, but that was decades ago

Funny how things unfold.
In our decades-ago experience in Vermont, with visits to Montreal, we frequently crossed paths with French-Canadians, proud and distinct. At that time they were enmeshed in literal fighting for French to be the official language of Quebec Province. Being a young one from the Midwest, i had no idea such a battle was waging, or that there could be such a battle!
Being English speaking, i/we soon found out!

French Canadians (similar to black Americans moving “back” to Africa) find themselves in a spot. They’re not accepted in France as French, esp not Parisian, yet they reject the English-west they live in. (i have read about this over decades.)

Nor would i expect to go to any of my ancestral countries to be accepted as “one of them”. Undeniable roots, but, no.

We didn’t get to go to Quebec City, i’d still like to, it’s reported to be the “most French” city in N America. Pictures are beautiful.

People are funny.

i recently met a shop girl/lady who was interested in geneaology. (how did that come up?!) -
i would have guessed she was descended from the Nordic countries.
She’d found she has significant ancestry in SIBERIA i think she was so surprised she wanted to talk about it.
Evidently, it even shows up in her blood type! - Which was evidently known before DNA.

The advent of DNA reflects a lot about how people thought about life, and the power of their own decisions.
For instance, it was common for people to believe they could fully+completely disown even close family members - by will.

DNA says, “not so fast”.
