With its fuel economy and its standard emissions, plus everyone else doing the same, which would mean significantly worse smog programs in our cities?
I was saying that more in a nostalgic way. Though i drive a 17 ram 1500 crew cab 4x4. Honestly though on any given day it gets better mpg than my ranger ever did. So i'll stick to the Ram but i do nostalgically miss the simpleness of the Ranger.

As for the suggestion of the shop manual i'm highly considering that, because trying to piece together trouble shooting off the internet is not going well. Thankfully at this point i think from the computer side of things that's all good so i'm fairly certain at this point it's either the battery or the starter even though the shops electronic tester says the battery is good.

That said not related to cars today has been a good day, i actually got to make my 3d printer useful and print a stand to hold my music when practicing guitar.

We regularly see lots of old car repair manuals headed to the dumpster at library sales.

Sometimes I think of getting a 3D printer, especially when I browse thingiverse and see the incredible variety of useful things you can make. Do you have a link to the file you used for the stand?

Unfortunately i don't have it off hand. At least not on this laptop, it might be on another one i had been using before i got this one working again but i had saved the file and had it sitting around for quite a while just hadn't got to printing it until now. In regards to them being useful i haven't got to use mine much in the year i have had it since my shoulder hurting so much drained most of my thinking ability beyond daily tasks but i already have plans once i get all the random junk out of the garage and i can organize my tools to print all sorts of organizing stuff. I have always been that person who probably has a tool for the job if i could just find it under this or remember where i put under that. So here is to hoping the 3D printer may restore some garage and shed organization and sanity.

One of my colleagues has a very fancy 3D printer that currently sits unused. I keep trying to think of things we could make with it, since all I'd have to do is ask.

Time is one of the most precious commodities of life. There’s almost no limit to the interesting and productive things you could do if you had the time. But we are only given so much.

Well, even the time involved isn't much. I just can't come up with ideas of something to make. The level of effort and time involved is almost nil - particularly with a good AI agent, you just tell it what you want, you get a visualisation render of it, then tell it to make it, and come back a few hours later.

The other challenge is that for many things (like a simple cable organiser), it can be cheaper to just buy it on TEMU and you get it of approximately the same quality. The input materials can be expensive.

Harvest has begun, lots more corn+soybeans to harvest.

Trains are heading toward grain elevators.

Today I was reminded of the joys of home ownership, furnaces, and heating season. Changed the filter. Took the shop vac all around the outside and where the filter sits inside. Even got the fan. Go to turn it on and the thermostat says no power on the Rh wire. Freak out for a second. Triple check the switch. Check the fuse. Check for voltage on the Rh wire, i do indeed have voltage. Then after some googling it all made sense. It's a 4 wire thermostat system and I'm running a nest thermostat. Well since we don't use the central air because the outside unit is 36 years old, low on refrigerant and even when it had a full charge cost more to run that than 3 window units, the thermostat has been off since probably April. So since it's been off and no power running through the furnace it couldn't steal it's trickle charge and even though i charged it a short time it was still going haywire. Here is to hoping an overnight charge and a C wire adapter fixes this.
