Or how the Catholic practice of celibacy is either unscriptural or forbidden. Note, I am not arguing celibacy is REQUIRED, but if a man is not married should he not also be celibate?
It is clearly desirable for an unmarried man to practice celibacy and indeed, it ought to be the standard in any church which is why I specifically mentioned the Roman Catholic Church's prohibition against married men serving in the priesthood.

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that married men can serve in the priesthood or episcopate, as the letter to Timothy explicitly instructs:

3 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1 Timothy 3:1-2

And the greatest irony of all is that the Roman Catholic Church claims to have been founded by an apostle who was a married man not to mention the fact that priests were permitted to marry right up until the Council of Lateran in 1127.

The Roman Catholic Church continues to have married priests right up until this current day. In fact, the last priest I talked to was a married man.

Yes, here comes the topic of the different rites, the Maronite Church, the Coptic Church and all the other churches that have communion with the Vatican but have a wide degree of autonomy. All of them are part of the Catholic Church. I am referring to the Latin Rite, which is what most people know as the Roman Catholic Church.

The Orthodox teach 1 marriage only for priests. With the notion that a priest is dedicated to the Lord, and then their wife dies, why again split your focus away from God? I think that’s defendable, if an interpretation Mennonites generally don’t share.
What I find indefensible is declaring no marriage for any priest. Perhaps you could argue that an unmarried should remain unmarried if they become a priest but I don’t see that as clear or likely as the first interpretation I referenced.
The problem with other interpretations for that passage deal more with D/R and polygamy problems by implication and that’s mostly why I believe the first is correct.

I cannot believe we have to rehash this again. The Roman Catholic Chur h has NEVER said it is a scriptural requirement that Priests cannot marry. It is a common discipline they chose. Unlike. Say ordaining women, the RCC freely admits they can change the rule tomorrow.

And as many have indicated there are a number of married priests. Common? No. A few years ago BOTH priests at my parish were married, and had children.

Orthodox may marry but NOT once fully ordained, and married priests cannot be made bishop

I am sure those that those who do not wish to be Catholic have many reasons NOT to join that are far ahead on the list of priestly celibacy.

I don’t think anyone ever said they think it’s scripture. Pretty hard to claim that when Paul directly addresses it.

Truth. Apostle Paul recommended being single- didn’t make it a mandate but many Christian sects have extra Biblical rules right?

It would be bad to overlook this part Paul wrote too
1Ti 4:3  Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Catholics do not forbid to marry though. They don’t force you to seek priesthood either so it’s a choice- to me that Scripture isn’t referring to this situation if you look at that entire passage in context.

Agree to disagree with your interpretation which makes sense given I’m a Mennonite seeker and you are Catholic/Orthodox seeker.
