Valerie, just because someone doesn't watch TV and does not watch the stations you do, this does not mean someone is uninformed. You can read many many things about what is happening in the government and anything happening in the world and not watch TV. I expect that many on here are very informed- they may not watch or listen to the same people you do, but they are informed.

Just wasn’t sure where you got the information he did this without any advice.barnhart wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 8:56 am If the the US can wrangle a deal that approaches or exceeds the JPOA, I will give the credit to the president. If not, the credit for that belongs to him as well. This was his decision. He did not ask for advice or consent from Congress or senior military nor did he coordinate with allies, except Israel.

Likely not, but it could be if Congress wanted to do it. I was just explaining why the outcome of this aggressive war is on the president, for good or ill.Valerie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 2:49 pmIs that an impeachable offense?barnhart wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 1:17 pmI don't know who he asked besides Netanyahu, but what he did not do was ask for the support of Congress nor international allies.Valerie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 9:21 am

Yes, let’s agree with a Hollywood movie star guide us into what is true.Nomad wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 2:56 pm"If you dont watch the news, your uninformed. If Denzel Washington’s point is taken, then there’s no reason for anybody to these discussions & topics. Regarding news & what we “believe” to be true we are all a product of whichever source we deem to give the most honest information. We do have a topic on credible news sources.
Quietly listening I’m just saying there seems to be a lack of some information which seems evident by many posts. You share that you’re informed- the station I watch the most has lots of reports by heads of departments, live footage, press conferences & many interviews that are helpful- I’m not trying to convince anyone to make this a priority at all- but it truly is very helpful if it matters-
I would think on a Mennonite discussion forum it should matter very little, I certainly didn’t join this forum seeking information on politics or current events & was initially very surprised at the amount of i treating it HERE.
I trust that we all find it important to pray for discernment.

i believe Denzel was quoting Mark Twain.
i understand it to be a wry humor reminder to “leave space” for more/better information and humility.
i agree reading from differing povs is important, and i expect it is more challenging for those who accept the mainstream without question. i appreciated Robert’s way of finding alternate sources, and HK brings lots of sources new to me. They all add so much to the overall picture! Valerie, you, also share sources new to me. Thank you.
i learn from everyone. i try!
The mainstream bubble is BIG, it seems it could be easy to discount anything outside it; if your real life relies on the same, it could be easy to believe that view is the only view, the only wothwhile view. i run into this with my family near Seattle. i try to find patient+diplomatic ways to remind them to think outside those narrow boxes.
i think i’ve had an impact. My grdaughter CHOSE a small Catholic college this year! She’s so happy there.
It wasn’t an easy choice for her. She was being pushed elsewhere. It was her choice. Nerve-wracking, but she did it.
i’m calling that a win. i’m sure you can imagine what she’s endured in the Seattle area.
Things no one should have to be subjected to, let alone children.
Catholic schools are not perfect.
Head+shoulders above standard issue lib gov education. God is not ignored. Family is respected. The sanctity of life.
All freely acknowledged in every class, every activity.
For those who have all these things in family+community, it might not seem so important.
i never dreamed i would be so grateful to Catholic schools and churches as i am. My grdaughter has been often alone. Only child. No family within 2000 miles. i’ve been grateful she’s had these experiences (in an epicenter of sin) - and - she’s freely choosing to continue, when many do not.
i have prayed and prayed and prayed for her protection and guidance all these years. for her and for all young ones.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Re: US Attacks Iran 2026
I read considerably more military strategy discussions, post damage assessments, and general policy position assessments. In other words, I focus on actions that are quantifiable and what is done rather than what is said.
I’ve made a few predictions that were wrong but I’ve seen a classic Americanism of getting into a conflict and messing it up terribly. Later America seems to figure it out and keep going.
So far it seems like politically a mess but the military seems to have a coherent strategy now.
