Negotiating with God?

Post by the-real-steve »

I am intentionally leaving this wide open.

Is this possible? Have you done it? Care to share experiences you've had?

Yes, I have tried. It felt/feels quite wrong to me. Doesn't sit right.

Are you thinking of things like what Hannah prayed, "If you give me a son, I will lend him to the Lord for as long as he lives."

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

I once told the Lord (despite not being a believer) I would make a donation to a worthy cause if I didn’t run out of fuel before I got to the next town and somehow it had a 24/7 station.

I made it, and the station forgot to turn the pumps off and it took my card. I had to walk a short walk and fill up a gallon jug since my car conked out before I could quite pull into the station.

I did make the donation but alas it took another 12 years to become a believer.
