That's the state's fault, then, for not operating things in such a way that incentivises providers to serve Medicaid patients.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 7:09 am Mostly inability to find a provider that will take Medicaid due to the low rates at which they reimburse for care.
Ohio somehow has figured this out and has superb Medicaid access. I'd say that having Medicaid in this state is probably better access than anything else, even than prepaid cash pay (having been a patient in both situations).
Again, that seems like a state-agency problem. (I am open to the idea Florida doesn't run some of its government agencies very well.) I have found staying enrolled on Medicaid fairly straightforward as long as you obey the programme requirements - the biggest one is to inform them if you have a big increase in income. They actually will let you stay on the program for a year regardless of the increase, but they must be notified.Kicking people off of Medicaid for arbitrary reasons.
They can be reached via phone (usually not a bad hold time in the morning; by 3pm it can be up to an hour), or you can walk into a county-level agency office. In my experience the staff at these offices are helpful, including with scanning document for proof of income, etc., and also verifying if they're the right documents.
The biggest thing they look for right now is identify verification. You HAVE to have things like a birth certificate, SSN card, and a state ID. The latter two are free; the former is $25, but someone who can't afford it can apply for help and will be given it.
Same deal... I found enrollment wasn't too bad. Biggest roadblock is poorly run websites, coincidentally run by third-party contractors where, if I look them up, they got big cash upfront and then outsourced it to the lowest bidder...Making enrollment nearly impossible.
Having a social worker on staff is a good idea simply because a lot of people who need Medicaid are not going to be able to successfully complete as basic of a task as verifying who they are or reliably opening their mail.I have personally seen all of these. The institution for which I last worked had a full time social worker to solve these problems.
Overall, I have found the Medicaid system impressive in some places. In some like California I have found it the opposite of impressive.

The commercial surrogacy industry asks us to believe that contracts can redefine motherhood, assign parenthood, and eliminate the bonds formed during pregnancy and infancy. Kyla’s experience demonstrates the opposite.

This is another messy surroostory from 2024.
Single Chinese man hires married Californian American to have baby, who then has triplets. Surrogate decides she doesn’t trust the Chinese man, who cannot get a visa to come to America. Surrogate decides she wants to keep babies, moves to Florida. One baby dies, others sound half neglected.
Chinese man pays woman piles of money on projects, is now about broke.

Disgusting. She was willing to be their mother and take care of them and then they got snatched and put in California where they are in foster care!!R7ehr wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 10:22 am This is another messy surroostory from 2024.

If a woman carries a baby, gives birth to a baby... it's her baby. That's my position and it is the only moral position to take.

But there are immoral positions aplenty for both sides that have been done here.JohnH wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 10:39 amDisgusting. I certainly agree. But I think if the law were clear that whoever gives birth to a baby is the mother, it would put an end to this surrogacy nonsense.
The Bible teaches us about the problems that arise from trying to engage in surrogacy in the example of Jacob.

The many and deep God-designed connections between mother+child ON MOLECULAR and SPIRITUAL levels are not fully known,
what is known is largely IGNORED/DENIED by human reasoning and human law, for convenience and profit.
No legal contract can over ride the reality of “what God has brought together” has created, starting at the moment of conception
(or before, considering Christians know God knows us before conception). Jeremiah 1:5
Minimally, for all, at the moment of conception, on a molecular level, life explodes into being. With no intent to stop.
Creation is embedded with the will to live, not man-made, not made of human science or law. Not possible.
The will to live

In my view, few know or even consider the fullness of what they are doing before (any) pregnancy.
So, in my view, what’s a human contract in such circumstances?! An attempt to disengage God??
i urge young women to educate themselves to avoid inadvertantly getting into wrestling against eternal Truths.
God did not create little incubators in His female creation for the purpose of monetizing human life (in His image).
i haven’t seen that anywhere in scriptures, ever.
In my life, i see more+more science that supports the sanctity of life from conception AND the mysteries of what happens on a cellular level between mother and child (that lasts, possibly for life) - even when the unborn is miscarried or aborted.
God doesn’t make mistakes. He doesn’t forget. Not one.
Educate yourselves. Understand the world will deceive you at every turn. Esp about the sanctity of life.
Most especially when there’s money-power involved. Notice, if not, there is no interest, at all. That’s a clue.

^^Also, no mention if “personhood” is granted to the unborn. In this case, 3 little persons.
Why wouldn’t it be? From conception.

And the same law contradicts itself because if a couple does an in vitro fertilization treatment, the baby will be from the mother who gave birth to it, not from the egg donor.JohnH wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 10:59 amI certainly agree.
