I completely understand that our faith shouldn't be placed in any politician who only comes to power through lies, but the difference between Trump and other presidents is abysmal. Of course, we all know that Clinton lied when he claimed he never had an affair with Monica Lewinsky, or that Bush's reasons for invading Iraq were completely false.

But here we have one of the parties in a war in which the United States is being decisively defeated militarily, and to be contradicted on something as basic as holding diplomatic talks...

The credibility of the United States government internationally is truly at rock bottom.

You avoided bringing up 4 years of the lying Biden administration. You should watch the Senate hearings about the Biden cover-up for four years. It might enlighten you quite a bit.

Biden is clearly a step higher on the scale of liars than Clinton. But what Trump is doing is on another level altogether. Lying about the basics of diplomatic negotiations is not only immoral and unethical but counterproductive, since it's the very essence of politics. This war has been a total disaster for the United States; it has triggered the worst recession in the last 70 years

The president before the one now (whose name we shan't mention in this forum) didn't start the war with Iran... he really didn't; nor did he have anything to do with what is happening now... Why are you mentioning his name in this thread?

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller

Why was Clinton brought up? Why was Bush brought up? I merely pointed out among those mentioned Biden was skipped.

It does seem pretty low but there is likely room to go even lower.

Another way of looking at it is to reflect on when the credibility was good? And to whom?

Not true. I’ve heard the speeches of many world leaders and comments praising the present administration. You have to watch the media outlets that show these.

The favorabiility of the US is always low somewhere because someone is always getting their toes stepped on, and often those were toes that deserved it. What I find unique in my lifetime is the alienation of allies, longtime partners and nations with firm commitments to freedom of human rights like free press, freedom of movement, freedom of assembly, free speech etc... The positive reviews I hear of the US come from nations with a lot to hide.
