Considering that Hawley introduced today legislation to prohibit federal employees from applying for cash prizes using federal resources, maybe it wasn’t a crime when Fauci did it.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:26 pmNo, these were cash prizes for scientists, and all the money went to Fauci.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:15 pmIf what they were doing was writing grant applications, that is part of the normal way research is funded. The fact they he had 8 staff members helping him get cash prizes is a crime according to Hawley.

A warning voice from 1996.
The frustrations of authentic scientists witnessing “celebrity” “scientists”. Posers. Imposters.

Kary Mullis on Dr. Fauci | 1996 Interview / 2+min
Kary Mullis was the inventor of the PCR technology, he shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Michael Smith and was awarded the Japan Prize in the same year for his invention.
This interview is from May 1996 and was made by Gary Null in Kary Mullis' home. Kary passed away in August 2019.
Prior to his death, Mullis had said the PCR technology is a research tool, and shouldn't be used to diagnose any disease in a human.
Kary worked with and knew Dr. Fauci very well, here is a short clip on what he thinks of Fauci.

And it would be irrelevant if it were a crime, anyway, since he has a blanket pardon.Szdfan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 11:14 pmConsidering that Hawley introduced today legislation to prohibit federal employees from applying for cash prizes using federal resources, maybe it wasn’t a crime when Fauci did it.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:26 pmNo, these were cash prizes for scientists, and all the money went to Fauci.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:15 pm

Re: Fauci Hearings
I think that could very well happen. I still don't see how that could trigger 5th Amendment protections. The 5th Amendment is supposed to protect against being forced to testify against ones self, not protect against prosecutors twisting a witness' words to claim that they lied.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 9:22 pm I think one concern is that he might give an inaccurate answer.
I think the other concern is that he might truthfully say what he knows, but some congressman could take various things he said and wrote or things they read somewhere, and then claim that he was lying.

Re: Fauci Hearings
Perhaps Congress should simply grant him immunity for whatever he testifies about... and then compel him to testify.
Note the immunity will only apply to Fauci (who is an elderly man, and I don't think it does anyone much good to try to put him in prison). However, other people's misdeeds would not be immune from prosecution.

Another example to add to all of human history: only 1 true and perfect God.
Some are specially awful examples of human failure.
i cannot imagine the weight of this on one person. Of course it requires a conscience to recognize it.
Human law exists to defy human conscience.
Anything for the W in court.
Anything.
It’s where the real money is. Defense attorneys.
God knows what to do. He is not fooled. Not ever.

I have never heard of such a thing. I have never seen an application for a "prize"; they are typically chosen by committee.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:26 pmNo, these were cash prizes for scientists, and all the money went to Fauci.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:15 pmIf what they were doing was writing grant applications, that is part of the normal way research is funded. I hadn't heard of it either. https://dandavidprize.org/laureates/dr-anthony-fauci/Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2026 8:20 pm I have never heard of such a thing. I have never seen an application for a "prize"; they are typically chosen by committee.
In any case, Fauci's own words claim that he ordered his staff to put in work to try to get him awarded such prizes. I guess it comes down to whether you believe him or not.

Re: Fauci Hearings
I don't know that twisting would be necessary. For example: Fauci might say that contributing funds to a Chinese lab had no connection with the virus leaking out of the lab. Those who believe that the lab leaked the virus could say that this was untrue. It really comes down to he said, she said.ken_sylvania wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2026 8:58 amI think that could very well happen. I still don't see how that could trigger 5th Amendment protections. A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.
