Aircraft and missiles play a support role by destroying infrastructure and military capability. However, in order to win a war, an invading military has to occupy to land in order to force regime change.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2026 10:21 amThere is a way to do it, but thankfully, due to the influence, I think, of Christianity, it isn't considered tenable any more, ie total wanton war/destruction that really breaks a people - think Hiroshima, Dresden, Constantinople, Lakota Indians, Georgians, etc.
I think Operation Epic Fury bears this out. Even though the US has killed the majority of Iranian leadership prior to the war, the regime is still in place and still able to resist the US.
If “finishing the job,” means regime change, I don’t see how Trump accomplishes that without a large ground-scale invasion and engaging in the same kind of neo-conservative nation building he ridiculed and repeatedly promised not to get caught up in.
Of course, a ground invasion is incredibly expensive, both in money and human lives and as the past twenty-five years of American efforts in the Middle East, there’s no guarantee of success.
Trump seems reluctant to launch a large-scale ground invasion. I’m concerned that we are instead stuck in a never-ending cycle with the Iranians of broken ceasefires. Both sides at this point seems ready to give up, but also unable to accomplish their ultimate objectives.
This looks increasingly like the kind of forever war Trump promised not to get the US into.

And the people in these interviews have no slants? Who are these people in the interviews? Why are you suspicious of articles but not interviews?
Do you think the rest of us do not listen to interviews?

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

I wonder if there's a lurking sense (or fear) that those of us who don't trust/believe the-name-that-shall-not-be-named-here - now have grounds for some schadenfreude? I admit it's tempting to toot that horn... particularly when the same voices who promised us 'peace & no more endless wars, etc' are now defending a war that is dragging on and on and on... (but at the same time is promised that it will end with another 'deal'...)

Re: US Attacks Iran 2026
You suggest we listen to your special sources... but what if we do and those sources by their action/speech in a round-about way, lend support to our position? Have you considered that? Let's say I listen to the Sec of Defence/War 24/7 and all of his christian crusader rhetoric, all of his justifications, the easy debunked half-truths/no-truths, the flip-flops ('we won! They're defeated!" - "Oh but they're still shooting at us, so therefore we need to start it up again!"). That kind of stuff actually lends credence (and wisdom) to our choice to not support this war nor trust its prosecutors/enablers - and on numerous levels, including plain secular pragmatism but also religious/moral ones as well.Valerie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 4:02 pmIt seems people are misdiagnosing my points. I have said numerous times I look up to the Anabaptist people, but I’m not gonna look up to them regarding assessing a war. You should be thankful I don’t turn to you for perspectives on this. That means you’re doing what you believe right.ohio jones wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 3:50 pmIt certainly feels to me like you are. What limitations exactly do you think I have? Why do you think I have very little access to information?
What is your source of information on the war?
I listened the other day to in-real-time - Senator Osoff question Hegseth... Hegseth's own words didn't convince me of his cause; quite the opposite... Something to consider. You may want to try a different approach?

Keep in mind I said I do not want to participate in this “war” topic as I said yesterday. Since I stated that people keep trying to drag me back in- not respecting my desire to not be a part of this topic any longer. It’s “useless wrangling “ which I assume you’d agree. Yet I come back & see I’m quoted several times. Please realize replying to your quotes of me is staying in the topic so I don’t mean to ignore but end my participation. I believe I understand your position and respect your right to your understanding.
Thank you-

Here's an observer speaking some reality / maybe truth about the situation? More diagnosis maybe instead of a solution-and end, which I think we're all praying for...
“Remember when [he who shall not be named here] and his allies argued in the 2024 election that a vote for [he who shall not be named here] was going to be a vote to end endless Wars. At the time I argued that this was nonsense; that in the president's first term he was very aggressive - expanded the Drone War, looked for any excuse they could to spark a war with Iran. Even going as far as assassinating a high ranking Iranian military leader. Engaged in careless saber rattling with North Korea. [he who shall not be named here] is a guy who sees the entire world as a competition between those who dominate and those who are dominated. You could say that it's a rapist worldview and it is… and it's [the current admin] only conception of interacting with the world therefore is some aggressive posture, whether that is in trade relationships - as we see now with his tariffs against every country that looks at him the wrong way, or whether that is with war and conflict, [or] other aspects of international relations. And although the war in Iran which began 4 months ago was a surprise, in as much as there had been no public preparation for it… (At least the Bush Administration gave us a year-long run up to war. They were like, ‘we got to sell this like an actual product’.. those are words they said.) There's none of that for the [he who shall not be named here]; just a surprise Saturday - I think it was a Saturday, one day and we've attacked Iran. That was a surprise, but the fact that we were going to war was not a surprise. We’d just gone to war a few months earlier in Venezuela and here we are four months later and were caught in this kind of cycle whereby the United States bombs Iranian sites - now beginning to bomb water filtration facilities [...] bridges and other civilian infrastructure. Engaged in straightforward war crimes. Iranians retaliate on American allies/American bases and then [he who shall not be named here] says we have to come to a ceasefire - we have to find some kind of agreement. And then the bombing stops for a little bit - usually timed to Market activity and then after the markets close on Friday afternoon [...] more bombing and then more talk of a ceasefire and so on and so forth… It seems endless you might say. Seems like it might be an endless war because neither [he who shall not be named here] nor the Iranians have any interest or really capacity to end it. [he who shall not be named here] certainly cannot lose face in any way [or the very Manly ‘christian’ Men around him] and the Iranian regime which has suffered huge losses, doesn't want to lose face either.. So here we are…” - Jamelle Bouie
Sounds like an endless war to me…
He goes on to point out that the “White House wants $86 Billion…” to continue the war!

All I see here is a rather unhinged conspiracy theory. He's already a billionaire and has been for a long time; being President so far has cost him money, not gained him money.

If you’re going to defend Trump, you might at least stick to things that are true.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/30/us/p ... -ios-share
So to recap:President Trump reaped a stunning windfall in his first year back in the White House, including about $1.4 billion from his family’s cryptocurrency businesses, a new filing shows.
All told, the president pulled in at least $2.2 billion, a figure that includes other parts of his vast holdings, such as his real estate assets. That compares to a minimum of $622 million his enterprises pulled in for all of 2024, before he returned to the presidency.
One of his biggest hauls in 2025 came when an investment firm tied to the United Arab Emirates bought nearly half of the Trump family’s main crypto company, World Liberty Financial, a transaction that blurred the line between foreign policy and private enterprise.
1) In 2024, Trump brought in $622 million.
2) In 2025, after becoming president, Trump brought in $2.2 billion.
I wish I lost money like that.
