I was recently made aware that Oasis Chorale performances now involve dancing.
Is this a new trend? I am surprised that the various plain constituencies are okay with this.

Oasis Chorale dancing
Re: Oasis Chorale dancing
Ancient Jewish trend more like. I have yet to see this on Oasis but have been to Churches that some dance (not quite like the Jews did, but worshipful just the same) so I’ve been exposed to it for decades nothing new under the sun.JohnH wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2026 7:53 pm I was recently made aware that Oasis Chorale performances now involve dancing.

Re: Oasis Chorale dancing
Valerie, I think you're confusing Oasis Chorale for Oasis Tabernacle. The specific dancing has nothing at all to do with "Jewish dancing" (of which there are two varieties; there is the "Jewish dancing" that homeschooled evangelical people who are Gentiles do, and then there is the kind you might see at actual Jewish weddings, celebrations, and so on; oddly enough, I have been part of both, although for the latter I had to keep sneaking away from the venue where it seemed every single one of my coworkers was dancing.)Valerie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2026 9:21 pmAncient Jewish trend more like. I would have to see what you are talking about. In general, people of the moderate-conservative orientation would not permit dancing.JohnH wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2026 7:53 pm I was recently made aware that Oasis Chorale performances now involve dancing.

Wouldn’t Oasis Chorale be more in the fundamental-conservative direction?Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2026 10:20 pmI would have to see what you are talking about. Re: Oasis Chorale dancing
I haven't seen Oasis this season but I have seen them before and while they did some staging of the songs with movement and light choreography, it doesn't really bring to mind the connotations of the word dancing.
(And I am not a teetotaler when it comes to dancing for a bunch of different reasons.)

I’m going to propose that I have more formal, academic instruction in dance than you do, plus far more experience actually dancing, ranging from my days in Montreal’s discotheques to modern dance performances to Messianic Jewish style dances to ECD. (I will admit to no experience with ballroom or salsa with speaking of.) Consider this an appeal to authority and indeed to formal fine arts education.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2026 7:08 am I haven't seen Oasis this season but I have seen them before and while they did some staging of the songs with movement and light choreography, it doesn't really bring to mind the connotations of the word dancing.

What Oasis does is dance. It has been trending this way for a while. I wondered about it a few years ago but dismissed the cocncerns from my mind.
A good side effect of this might be that plainer groups will stop letting Oasis come around.

Produce a link to a video of this and then we can discuss this intelligently.

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

I’ll see if I can get one; I don’t generally take videos or photos of people.
