J6 was another example of msm immediately running the word, “INSURRECTION” like wildfire, with years-long deliberate drama following. Including on forum.
I actually do have archives from then, I could look.

I definitely think people have strongly different beliefs and memories of both Charlottesville and January 6th. One of the things I find interesting ... comparing people's reactions then to their memories of their reactions now. I did a little of that once upon a time. You can also track this in public figures, looking at what they said then and what they say now. Memories definitely change, and they change differently in different groups.

Nobody's memory is 100% accurate. Memory does change over time.

i remember specifically because of the word, full-throated, which i rarely use or rarely hear, but it was flying in airwaves.
There’s a lot of “monkey-see, monkey-do” (+monkey-say) in partisan politics. A whole lot. Much of it lands right away on forum. :-|
temporal1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2026 12:38 pm i provided an example from the Charlottesville tragedy i could recall, because a distinctive word was used. No response.
Those topics are gone due to forum resets.

i expect a lot of the non-answers here are because posts are not searchable anymore. even if one was motivated.
Members have the disadvantage of being human, not the preferred (by some) AI. :P
Here are several threads on Charlottesville, none of which feature the word in question.

They’re from 2017 - in a regular search?

i hope no one will use those topics to presume i’m delusional or lying about that word/demand. i have no such inclination.

i have no idea the location of the demand.
as i recall, it was brief, i doubt i replied. i might have. i remember the word-accusation. i remember thinking “no way” would i jump to such a baited conclusion without more details. It was early-on. Too early to know.

For my purposes, in searched “full throated” which provided 39 examples: none were a match, but interesting for the topic

Hate is a mindset, not just a word.

I rebuked right wing people for hate back in the Obama days, when every single thing was Obama’s fault, along with endless conspiracy theories. It is no different than left wing people’s attitudes towards Trump now.

The Christian should refrain from such things.

no different outside of scale. big scales.

i’m encouraged to witness “some” degree of balance attempted. i trusted it would come, judgment comes,
i didn’t expect to see any of it on earth in my lifetime. temporal earth.

And curiously, hate is always something "they" do. "They" hate us. "We" most certainly do not hate. This is more or less universal - I heard a leader of the KKK explain why black people hate, but KKK members live lives of love. And of course, because "they" hate "us", we need to fear them and treat them differently from other people.

I have tried starting threads where I ask how we can judge "hate" in practice, using criteria that we can apply to ourselves as well as others. If we are going to use terms like this, I think it's important to examine ourselves first.

Spreading extreme, false rumors about other people might be one indication of hate.

What I’m talking from this conversation is that there is no evidence that anyone on this forum has ever demanded that anyone denounce Donald Trump.

No-one has been able to provide a single documented event in a forum that communicates entirely in the written form.

I think what is happening is that some of the defenders feel social pressure to denounce Trump. And I’m not going to argue with feelings . While people have a right to their feelings. But a feeling of pressure is not the same thing as someone actually demanding a denunciation and so far I haven’t seen evidence that the latter occurred on this forum. There are accusations based on feelings and not what other participants have actually done.

I also think it’s worth applying the same standard consistently. If it is wrong to assume that someone supports Trump because they disagree with critics, then it is also wrong to assume that someone hates Trump or is “deranged” simply because they criticize him.

I think all of us have had the experience of talking to someone who has extremely strong feelings about Trump and really judges anyone who disagrees with them. Those are not pleasant conversations. Marriages have broken up over Trump. Churches have divided over Trump. And we have all felt judged by someone based on our own opinions of Trump or his policies.

That's something people we have in common even if we disagree about Trump.

But let's not do that here.

One effort I make to that end is too let people have their opinions (for the most part). Arguing often causes them to dig in deeper and I don't want to contribute to that.

(i think) T provides all with plenty of material to dislike, free of societal pressures.

from there, some decide to use all for their mercilous dislike of him,
others, for instance, Robert, could readily reject what he disliked, while appreciating the good.

i miss Robert’s insights. he often chose unpopular “stands” which regularly turned out correct over time.
i enjoyed his “told ya so” moments.

i don’t believe anyone on forum is a coward about owning their beliefs. not at all.

There is no mystery about why many in the world prefer T as POTUS.
Career politicians lost their way. Msm lost its way. It was slow coming, but time caught up.

Nothing’s finished. The applecart was turned over.

Time will tell about results. A whole lot of sour, spoiled, rotten apples out there.

i suspect the SPLC has done tremendous damage over decades.
