which ones did you plant?
i was looking for an apothecary rose this year. because of its history.
also, from pictures, it reminds of the wild roses we would see along the country roads on family drives when i was young.

As April arrives and gardens begin to stir into life, one flower stands out not only for its vivid beauty but for its rich connection to history, healing, and literature. Rosa gallica officinalis, known as the Apothecary’s Rose, is more than an ornamental bloom. It carries with it centuries of meaning and a deep-rooted place in both horticulture and the poetic imagination.

With 23rd April marking the birthday of William Shakespeare, it’s an ideal moment to explore how this historic rose intersects with the world of the Bard and the gardens of Tudor England. .. ..

When i was young, my grandmother loved roses .. they were too much for me, they seemed strong and even gaudy .. not the simple wild roses so much. i favored white daisies for many years.

i eventually grew into roses, and they’re a favorite now - esp fragrant roses!
without fragrance, they’re “missing something”.

I’m not sure. She picked them out and I dug the holes. I don’t know much about gardening.

America Spent $12.5 Billion Fighting the Emerald Ash Borer. The Woodpeckers Did It For Free
In 2002, a beetle from eastern China arrived in a Detroit shipping crate and went on to kill more than 100 million American ash trees. The federal response cost $12.5 billion. It did not stop the beetle.

What did stop it was already in the woods.
Four native bird species — and one parasitic wasp the size of a sewing needle — quietly built a predation pyramid that no quarantine, no insecticide injection, and no government program had ever designed.

This documentary follows the decade of bark-peeling, camera-trapping, and citizen-science data that revealed how the hairy woodpecker, the downy woodpecker, the red-bellied woodpecker, the white-breasted nuthatch, and a native wasp called Atanycolus cappaerti turned a continental ecological disaster into something foresters now call "lingering ash" — young trees that are starting to survive in the same counties that lost everything fifteen years ago.

Filmed in the spirit of long-form ecological storytelling. No AI narration. No clickbait. Just the slow, real work of a forest doing what biologists never asked it to do.

If you spend time on land that has been hit by the emerald ash borer — Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, anywhere east of the Rockies — drop a comment below.

Are you seeing the woodpeckers come back?
Are your young ash surviving?
The ground truth from the people who live there matters more than any federal report.
i believe i’ve watched all these named woodpeckers, and the nuthatches, outside my window .. i have a mostly-dead still-standing tree there that attracts all kinds of birds and other wildlife .. That tree has a lot of traffic 12 months/year.

including a Pileated Woodpecker this spring! What a show he put on! Big show.

i haven’t seen that particular wasp. There are wasps around.

It wasn’t disclosed, how can you tell?
It says, “No AI narration.”

It's obvious to me it was AI written.

Some examples are sentences with no verb (or where the verb "to be" is implied), starting a sentence with "just", the use of emdashes (looks like a —), ending the description with a question, and other things that are tells something was written by AI.

If I had to guess, I would guess the model is GPT 5.5-Instant, mostly because of the terseness of some of the sentences.

The level of AI slop in that description is unbelievable. They might as well have a flashing "This is AI" neon sign.
