Even dead American presidents don't have gold statues.QuietlyListening wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 3:16 pm I would personally say what I said above about any leader that had evangelicals or other religious leaders dedicating a statue that is of that leader. But to my knowledge we have not had a statue of a living political figure put up and dedicated in this way, at least not in my lifetime.
Okay, so your objection is the particular metals used? Have you also lodged an objection with the gold-plated (well, gold-leafed - it's wood) statue of George Washington at the Idaho capitol building?Bootstrap wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 8:30 pmEven dead American presidents don't have gold statues.QuietlyListening wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 3:16 pm I would personally say what I said above about any leader that had evangelicals or other religious leaders dedicating a statue that is of that leader. We didn’t do that on this forum did we? I mean he did appoint members of Muslim brotherhood to his cabinet but I don’t recall day after day on “here” people attacking him.barnhart wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 4:46 pmIt's not that clear to me. President Obama was critiqued quite a lot, as a communist, a fascist, a crypto Muslim who wanted to subvert the Constitution in favor of Sharia law, a foreigner, a black nationalist, a creator of death panels to kill old people, a weak leader for wearing brown suits, anti- American for not wearing a flag pin, anti- white forValerie wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 4:38 pm I think it’s very noticeable that it wasn’t done against prior administrations. I remember grumbling to be sure.
I remember a thread on MennoDiscuss right after Obama’s inauguration arguing that he was the antichrist.

I also remember lots of mentions of Reverend Jeremiah Wright and that we did go down the rabbit hole about Obama’s birth certificate.
i wasn’t on forum then, but, as today, “things discussed” doesn’t equate to “things promoted”.
I frequently admonished people to go easy on the conspiracy theories and to try to find things to believe in/think about other than that Obama was some kind of apocalyptic figure who was going to bring about an end to both America and to religious freedom worldwide.
