Re: Self-sufficiency
Interesting video.
I used to lean more in that direction when I lived in Alaska before I got married and was into subsistence food collection and preservation and living off the land and water. Self-sufficiency is definitely measured on a spectrum though. Very few people on this planet live truly 100% self-sufficient lives. But he is closer than most.
And I'm sure he does, in fact, have a legal identity. He just doesn't keep any of his own copies of documents that verify his identity. If he has title to his land and isn't just a squatter then he does, in fact, have a legal identity.

Re: Self-sufficiency
One scenario is he inherited his land from an ancestor and has never bothered to change the deed to his own name. This is quite common where I live - some deeds haven’t been changed in a century. The oil companies are the ones who spend the most effort tracking down ownership since they want to lease mineral rights, and they have to find the actual owner to do that.Ken wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 4:15 pm Interesting video.

Alternatively he could put his land in an LLC and the requirements for personal identity are quite slim for that. You can do it all through a third party or a lawyer.
The idea of a “legal identity” is a silly one. He exists. It doesn’t matter how much or how little information the government has kept track of on him.

Re: Self-sufficiency
He almost certainly has a birth certificate on file in a county clerk's vital records office somewhere, even if he doesn't have a copy in his possession. Which is basically all he needs to demonstrate identity. The video just says he doesn't have a drivers license or ID. Not that he doesn't have a legal identity. That is an exaggeration in the headline of the video. The government has record of his identity somewhere.JohnH wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 9:55 pmOne scenario is he inherited his land from an ancestor and has never bothered to change the deed to his own name. In any event it is a fun video. I wonder how long he would keep up this life if he ever fell in love and got married. That is what usually cures young men of this lifestyle.

Re: Self-sufficiency
Or who knows. Maybe he doesn't. Sometimes people never bother to get one.
How do you know? (And would it bother you if they didn't?)The government has record of his identity somewhere.
Well, other than the fact that the marriage rate has now dropped below 55%, so there's an almost even chance he doesn't get "cured of this lifestyle", as if it's a disease to be cured. And also your assumption that no woman would fall in love with a guy's existing lifestyle as opposed to try to change him into, what, some guy who wants to live in the suburbs and drive around a crossover SUV?In any event it is a fun video. I hope to visit Titus shortly and have enjoyed his videos.
What's your take on his belief system, etc?

Re: Self-sufficiency
Riding the tree down.... Back on the farm where my Dad grew up (Western Oklahoma, north of Enid) they had China Berry trees between the house and the outhouse. As long as they are living trees, they are really flexible, and my Uncle used to do that like this guy did. He'd climb the tree, then get it swishing back and forth until his feet it the ground, back and forth, on both sides. Then one time just let go when you reach the ground. (I used them for fishing poles, too, but you had to make a fresh one nearly every day. They got really brittle when they dried out.)

Re: Self-sufficiency
I kept up with this guy, apperantly Titus’s life blew up into a drama filled disaster a year or so after this video. The main reasons is that one of his best friends was a couple named stephanie and john or something like that. The marriage started having trouble and they divorced, titus came in and swooped stephanie up after the divorce. They are now married. He apperantly diverted donated church funds to support his marriage, he might of always had a crush on stephanie and prayed for this to happen. He also had an anabaptist position of divorce and remarriage being a sin. He dropped this position the moment stephanie became single.
Overall the titus project seemed to of blown up last I checked

I don't think there is a "system". He has Seventh Day Adventist beliefs and I am disappointed in his morality.
