The woman likely heard a story propagated around to discredit Christians but that story was almost assuredly founded on at least 1 true example. What isn’t true is that there is a practice to do so.
Individuals, pilot, munitions crew could and likely have done this but it would never be official practice.

Bomb fragments regularly retain enough to identify who dropped it, it’s not unlikely that a label could remain enough to identify a phrase.
Then there are the “messages” written on bombs and other munitions by the Muslims and during WWII by the Germans and the Japanese. It’s part of the mindset of combatants in war time and all sides do it. Is it right? I don’t think so. But I also don’t think it’s right to accuse only one side of doing it when they all do it with or without permission of the leadership.

Did you serve in the military?

Out of those commenting here on hearsay unofficial practice I would be the only one in a position to have actually spoken to service members who did or did not.

While I admit to having no first hand experience with this, I know the military and how it works. The act of nose art and the various laws/regulations that have popped out illustrates that graffiti is something that happens. To argue that Japan, Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Muslim countries do it while the US doesn’t is nothing short of propaganda.
Can you point to any official statement or evidence that any of these countries required it or encouraged it? I doubt it but even if you could that doesn’t negate the US doing the same on occasion unofficially. To argue otherwise is making US servicemen something they most assuredly are not.

From the Ukraine topic:
Grace wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 8:38 am On Sunday, Ukrainian president Zelensky visited the Scranton, Pennsylvania Army Ammunition Plant, one of only two facilities in the country producing the 155mm Howitzer artillery shells. He was joined by Pennsylvania’s Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro and others. Josh Shapiro is an avid supporter of Kamala Harris and is her surrogate.

Like a well-known sports athlete joyously signing sports memorabilia, Shapiro proudly signed one of the 155mm Howitzer bombs and used the killer bomb as a celebratory photo op. That bomb will undoubtable kill people. To the warmongering Democrat, the method of killing people is something to be proud of and used as a photo op. The only winners in this war are politicians and defense contractors. And as people like Josh Shapiro celebrate with bomb signings and photo ops, the killing continues. These people seem glib and unconcerned that they are signing missiles that will kill fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, and maybe even women and children.

On this visit Zelensky attacked Trump and Vance. So we have a foreign leader campaigning for the Democrat candidate on American soil, in a very pivotal state. Where are the Democrats denouncing foreign interference in our election?
.. ..
Grace:
But the most disgusting thing about this story is the celebratory aspect of signing bombs that will kill people.
I understand that wars happen, but celebrating the tools that will brutally kill people is disgusting, but very typical.

The prior Democrat Pennsylvania Governor moved covid patients into nursing homes, which ended up with the elderly dying unnecessarily. But before Governor Wolf's evil edict, he moved his mother OUT of a nursing home, and put her in the cushy Hershey Lodge.

Josh Shapiro celebrating killer bombs, just verifies my thoughts that present day Democrat politicians are warmongers and promote a culture of death.

i 100% agree that propaganda has been proven to be commonly used in human history, the U.S. didn’t invent it.
It’s powerful.

In my view, “education” that doesn’t make an effort to include both/all sides of any topic, is closer to indoctrination than education.
For instance, Ernie’s OP woman who believed Christians “only” write blasphemy on bombs .. that suggests intense+deliberate indoctrination .. it’s not uncommon, at all. The U.S. isn’t blemish-free.

That doesn’t mean all are equal, i’m not a moral equivalency proponent as an answer to every problem.

i 100% agree, there is no INHERENT difference in God-created human hearts.
ON EARTH, at any given moment, it’s quite likely there are better/worse, as well as outright violent extremes.

Example:
one who has murdered versus one who has thought of murder-then dismissed the thought.

scriptures tell us many things that are Truth. yet, on earth, we struggle with how to get it right.

As Valerie found in her OP, i don’t know of any U.S. policy that promotes or requires violent GRAFFITI.
i’ve seen pictures of it all my life, GRAFFITI has been found from ancient times, often by workers/slaves ..
unsanctioned, but allowed .. ?

The recent photo-op Grace responded to wasn’t policy.
But, whew-boy, Z+Ukraine were treated like rock stars all-those-years. Z receiving celebratory accolades, hugs+kisses in Congress was gasp-worthy (to me) - along with billions in taxpayer dollars, evidently, not many questions asked.

Anyway. History confirms propaganda happens.

My son served in the Navy and was on his way back from a 6 month deployment when 9/11 happened and his Cruiser turned around to go back to the mid-east. All I heard from him regarding bombing after they went back is that he hated it. My son “believed” in those days but not born again but I know his heart was not happy about bombing, he felt bad-but realized we were engaged in a war on terrorism which we were told is a different kind of war. I will ask him if he was aware of them marking bombs. I think many countries with faith think and pray God is helping their cause. I definitely know the Jews did from Maccabees and also the 6 day war in Israel in 1967. There were supposedly miracles:

Cruisers aren’t loading bombs so they would have missiles which would be heavily restricted and shells potentially although unlikely.
He may have heard stories but I doubt it would have happened on his ship or at least not regularly.
The real place it would happen if anywhere would be the aircraft carriers and the older battleships. Air Force might for their bombs otherwise I’d look at the army tank/artillery and Marines.
I wouldn’t expect it for example on a 50cal or nato round but possibly anti aircraft portable weapons…
Most of the missiles are going to have considerably more controls over and there would be considerably less people with access.

Thank you. He no longer even believes (college professors brainwash) but I know he wouldn’t support inscriptions like that, nor would I. So missiles would not be in the category of bombs. Until that happened I didn’t realize a cruiser sent off any kind of bombing - he was more assigned to getting on boats doing searches. He was a sonar technician. They multi-task. They also went after drug boats when he was in Adan Diego.

Cruisers in US navy generally fill the role of anti air defense and missile platforms. Sometimes they have anti sub helicopters but they don’t have “bombs” really and their shells are so seldomly used outside of live fire exercises that I don’t think it would be a place people would bother.
Torpedoes maybe? But generally that would be a destroyer.

(i’m not sure how anyone who had been bombed with graffiti-bombs would have known there was graffiti, outside being told so.) :?
Not that I’ve ever been told, but I don’t think they would know or care.

i wonder if others here know about Soviet submarine officer Vasily Arkhipov:

Soviet Submarine Officer Refused to Launch Nuclear Torpedo at US Destroyers During Cuban Crisis / 55min

“Discover the untold story of how Soviet submarine officer Vasily Arkhipov defied his captain's direct order to launch a nuclear torpedo at US Navy destroyers on October 27, 1962—the same day a U-2 spy plane was shot down over Cuba—when submarine B-59 was trapped beneath the Caribbean surface, subjected to hours of depth charge attacks, with its crew suffocating in 140°F heat, believing World War III had already begun above them, and only Arkhipov's refusal to authorize the nuclear launch prevented a retaliatory strike that would have instantly killed thousands of American sailors and triggered the full-scale nuclear war that Kennedy and Khrushchev were desperately trying to avoid. This meticulously researched documentary reveals how Captain Valentin Savitsky—after eleven hours of depth charge bombardment by eleven US destroyers, unable to surface for air, with batteries nearly dead, carbon dioxide reaching lethal levels, crew members fainting from heat exhaustion, and communication with Moscow completely severed—became convinced that war had started and ordered the arming of their 15-kiloton nuclear-tipped torpedo, declaring "We're gonna blast them now! We will die, but we will sink them all—we will not disgrace our Navy!" Through declassified Soviet Naval archives, testimony from B-59 crew members including sonar operator Vadim Orlov who described the scene as "the temperature in the compartments was 45-50°C, up to 60°C in the engine room... It felt like being in a metal barrel, which somebody is constantly blasting with a sledgehammer," accounts from US Navy destroyer commanders who had no idea they were attacking a nuclear-armed submarine, and analysis of the communication breakdown that left four Soviet submarines operating blind during the crisis's most dangerous hours, this comprehensive narrative traces those critical moments when three men held a power no political leaders possessed—the authority to start nuclear war without Moscow's permission. Learn how Soviet doctrine required unanimous agreement from the submarine's three senior officers to launch nuclear weapons, why Arkhipov's unique position as flotilla commander gave him equal authority to the captain—making him the only man who could veto the launch, how the US Navy's "signaling" depth charges—intended merely to force the submarine to surface and identify itself—were interpreted by the desperate Soviet crew as the opening attacks of World War III, and why Arkhipov's previous experience surviving the K-19 nuclear submarine disaster in July 1961—where he witnessed eight crew members die from radiation exposure after a reactor coolant failure—gave him the moral authority and combat credibility to stand firm against his captain's rage. Based on 2002 interviews with surviving B-59 officers conducted at a Cuban Missile Crisis conference in Havana where American participants first learned how close they came to nuclear war, testimony from National Security Archive director Thomas Blanton who called October 27, 1962 "the most dangerous day in human history," recently declassified records revealing that all four Soviet submarines carried nuclear torpedoes and their captains had authorization to use them if they believed war had begun, and analysis by historians who concluded that a nuclear torpedo detonation would have instantly vaporized the USS Beale and likely triggered automatic American nuclear retaliation against Soviet targets, this investigation exposes how the Cuban Missile Crisis's closest brush with nuclear catastrophe occurred not in the political negotiations between Kennedy and Khrushchev that historians focus on, but in the suffocating darkness of a Soviet submarine where three desperate officers voted on whether to start World War III—and only Vasily Arkhipov's "no" vote, cast against his enraged captain while their crew was convinced they were about to die anyway, prevented the nuclear exchange that would have killed hundreds of millions and ended human civilization as the ultimate consequence of depth charges dropped by US Navy destroyers who never imagined their "routine" anti-submarine operations on October 27, 1962, had brought them within one man's vote of triggering the apocalypse.”
Valerie: OP
But Dirk Williams and anyone willing to forgive and lay down their own life like Jesus definitely should be the mark of Christians.
Dirk Williams’ response and images immediately resonate with “anyone who has read scriptures AND been touched by the Holy Spirit” - and beyond these. God created all, God breathed life into (dust). God didn’t begin when Jesus was born on earth.

There is more than can be known in the limited, faulty human sphere. Thankfully so!

Maybe 8 years ago president Trump approvingly told an apocryphal story about the US military executing Muslims with bullets dipped in pig blood to contaminate them in the final judgement.
