There have been wildly conflicting reports - mostly about headquarters location+jobs.
i’m not sure where it’s going to land. Looks like Nashville is set for significant gains, if not 100%.

KOMO / Starbucks to keep Seattle HQ, add new Nashville base as tax and store debates swirl

.. Coffee giant Starbucks says it will, after months of rumors, open a new headquarters office in Nashville.

The company announced Tuesday that it is a $100 million investment expected to create 2,000 jobs.

At a press conference in Nashville, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee called the move “an announcement that they’ll all be envious of,” pointing to the state’s business climate and workforce. ..

It’s an opinion/reaction piece.
From what i personally witness in Seattle and area, it represents reality. Seattle is a troubled city.
Unfortunately, there has been LOTS of RELOCATION of individuals and businesses to surrounding areas, causing traffic increases and increases in housing and cost of living.

Not that gov isn’t also relocating their problems alongside the many voluntary relocations!
no real escape. temporary relief. “spread the squalor” - plenty to go around!

our son began working at Boeing/Everett in 2007. soon, my daughter+family moved here, also for work.
over these years, King County has become my second home. Seattle is a devastated city since 2020.
the entire county (and state) are impacted. :-| what a grand waste.

do you see something i’m missing?

i will guess, not nearly enough “voters have snapped” to help seattle.

i presume a lot of what is said/written “everywhere” is wishful thinking.

I think the click-bait tabloid titles are a pretty good clue here. DId you notice that the title said nothing about what the actual scandal was?

If any "news sources" uses mostly click-bait tabloid titles, that tells you a lot about the source.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Call me crazy, after the internet, often from sources on this forum, i decided to read/listen/view others’ opinions+reactions (as many have) - even when their budgets do not compete with the deep pockets of major news INDUSTRY others value above all others.

msm is not my sacred cow.

Across the board, i read/listen/view for CONTENT, when others reject due to outward appearance.
i think of HK, when he writes about talking with men working in the local dump. Amazing what can be learned by listening.

Years ago, i rejected tabloids, i felt they earned rejection. Because of ridiculous content.
i no longer do that in the same way. The internet changed the dynamic. It’s not strictly msm or tabloids. no more.

It’s up to others to view or reject. i accept that. no problem.
i expect a lot of rejection, others have been forthright they reject content. no speculation required.
Rejection is so common, Ernie sometimes requests reading/viewing BEFORE responding. i believe a good method.

i reject a lot out of hand. probably the majority of what appears in front of me.
for instance, as Robert recommended, CNN. i’ve since added MSNow, which appears in competition with CNN for “worst place”.

i distinguish between what is 1) for-profit paid professional “journalism” versus 2) “everyman” reaction+opinion pieces.
NOT THE SAME. i’m glad to have both.

i’m specially interested in conservative black reactions+opinions, believing this group represents THE MOST criticized and under reported group of all. the internet gives them an actual outlet. they don’t play the perpetual victim, they could. (more honor in not going there.)

i’m new to Charles Forte. i’m interested in more from him.

these outlets are all “works in progress”.
unlike the BEHEMOTH mainstream news INDUSTRY others ascribe to. (the industry that can afford to face massive lawsuits, then continue on, as if nothing happened.) DEEP POCKETS.

for me, it’s not either-or.
i’m happy with my very mixed choice of sources. i don’t ignore or reject msm. i reference them regularly.

i aim for a healthy mix. i’m grateful for the choices.

msm is not my sacred cow.
But the question is this: are they using well-known propaganda techniques to manipulate you emotionally, framing everything in culture wars, and presenting verifiable facts, or are they doing something else? MSM is irrelevant here. Except as an excuse that so many of them use in their framing - "We're telling you what MSM won't" - that doesn't make it true or fact-based or good.

Screaming click-bait tabloid headlines are a useful clue because they tell you exactly what they are doing. People click on these for the same reasons they read tabloids. Not because they are looking for objective news. Is it appealing to your rational mind, or is it appealing to something else? I appreciate sources from a variety of different perspectives, but it's hard for me to take this kind of source seriously. And I wonder if this is the kind of thing that Christians should be exposing themselves to on a regular basis.

When it's emotional political culture wars framing, it probably does belong in Politics, where I will never see it.

I'll agree, the internet has persuaded way too many people to accept ridiculous content from sources on YouTube and Instagram who used to reject ridiculous content from tabloids.

Try again.
Screaming click-bait tabloid headlines are a useful clue because they tell you exactly what they are doing.
This is my point. They no longer tell you about content, everyne can CHOOSE to read or not, but, i no longer expect content to match headlines.

This happens frequently on forum. You have to read content, then try to figure out what’s the intent?
Not to mention responses regularly going off topic.

i believe you’re an adult. By all means, read as you choose.
i don’t think you have any problem ignoring my posts, no matter AP, CBS, or PBS.

i really need to use Ernie’s method: read or listen BEFORE responding. it helps weed out a lot of extra chatter.
