i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Yes, we should mourn them all.
I am reminded that God told his people to accept their captivity by the pagans and to "seek the good of the city" where they were taken. Also the prophet Jonah was reprimanded by God for waiting in anticipation for Nineveh to be destroyed. God's heart is not for destruction even if he oversees it. Hearts in touch with God will mourn the destruction of his image.
The Iranian regime IS for killing. Gods heart is not for that either.
We can mourn that at the same time.

This is one reason Jesus wants us to prioritize our identity as citizens of heaven, so we don't get backed into a corner by love of country and loose the capacity to see the humanity of others.

This isn’t what Valerie is doing, though.

She’s saying she’d like Iranians to not have to live under a homicidal, genocidal regime.

Well, people here don’t tend to be kingdom only Christians they talk more politics than they do Christianity from what I witnessed the last few years so there’s definitely an interest in government here. I believe the good Lord cares about the Iranian people too many slaughtered by the evil regime

The US government is for killing. God’s heart is not for that.

When you step back from politics, both governments have done what they think is right for their country but the US has invaded and killed far more especially under false claims such as WMD’s.
The US gave targeting information to Iraq and turned a blind eye to the Iraq chemical weapons program against Iran.

Even counting proxies, by all accounts US has killed more noncombatants not counting US proxies either in just Iraq alone.

I’m not defending Iran, but I’m also not defending America. Both commit evil acts.
When our king starts assassinating his own people, we can have a discussion.

Like others here, I mourn the loss of life on both sides, even having worked closely and remained in contact with senior members of the IDF. Nevertheless, Iran is a country with tens of millions of people and many professing Christians. I spent some time with my family recently watching “Taste Village Life” which follows a Muslim family in rural Iran. They’re very peaceful videos and they live very simple lives.

Personally, I would rejoice to see Christians protected in the Middle East in a more public and intentional way.

I guess you weren't kidding about working in cybersecurity. Maybe we've grabbed a quick bite at a Burgerim with some of the same people.

One of my former colleagues is a commander (a female commander, in fact) of hundreds of people in Unit 8200. The late stage startup I worked for most recently was Israeli as well, so about 10-15%, maybe more, were all “reservists.” You get to see a very different perspective when the folks who are absent from work meetings are off performing hostage rescue operations. It really turns the volume down on whatever mundane white collar work is being discussed.

1: we don't have a king.

2: When's the last time any king actually killed anyone?

3: There are cases where the US has killed US citizens without trial.

4: how are you defining assassinate? because by any reasonable definition, the US has ordered assassinations and has records of it while Iran is carrying out court cases before "executing" people. Sham? certainly.

Engage with facts and we can have a conversation otherwise you are just arguing from propaganda.
