Right. I'm just saying that the Bible speaks of them as God's servants, so they are indeed part of God's overall strategy.
And I agree with that. For all political leaders.
JohnH wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 10:29 amI didn't say we should engage in emperor worship - is anyone on MennoNet saying that?
I think political affiliation and preferences are often treated as central by some people. I think the whole Satan vs. Trump line of thinking reflects that. If we Seek First the Kingdom of God, I think we might find that no political leader is leading that charge.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.
If we love God, we should love those around about us.
Man or woman, saint or sinner, bond or free.
We are not to love their sins if they should falter,
But because they’re human beings such as we.

Satan rather hates the leadership, which is why he conspires to get them to do evil things.
Wife: I agree with this. I would think God loves all people enough to give them multiple chances to repent, although if they never do, they will be held accountable, no matter where they’re from. My two favorite stories of kings in the Bible are about Manasseh and Nebuchadnezzar. they had a lot of problems, and did some things that were downright evil, but for some reason, God gave them a chance to repent (bringing them down very low in order to humble them), and they chose to take it.

There are many assassination plans and attempts.
Most perps survive. Not always.
Reagan’s quick wit:
"Missed Me" - Ronald Reagan 1987 / 31sec
Wife: oh wow. That’s a little bit of history I never learned about. i’ll have to go digging now.
Apparently it was a balloon, but still hilarious
^^Description:
This is a short clip of President Ronald Reagan giving a speech and halfway through it a balloon bursts making the sound of a gun and Reagan responds with "Missed Me". This is why I like Reagan!
It sounded like a gunshot.
Notice the lack of evident security in that old tape. Before tech strangled the life out of life.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Wife: yeah, there’s actually another video where he does it as well. It sounds like a running joke for him whenever he heard a loud noise during his speech.
Apparently he did survive an assassination attempt near the beginning of his presidency by some crazy guy who wanted to impress an actress. That was a very interesting read, and several other people got injured trying to protect the president, and he got wounded by a ricocheting bullet, which they didn’t actually know until they got to the hospital, because they thought it was a cracked rib from being thrown into the limo

President Ford narrowly survived two assassination attempts. Was he also upsetting Satan's agenda?
Interesting. Maybe Satan hates Republican presidents.
And weren't there 8 assassination attempts on Obama?

You might be right, Im not knowledgeable about security and such. But if it's needed, wouldn't the correct way to go about be to present plans for congressional oversight and fund it transparently.
I'm pretty sure that procedure is only when Congress is funding it. That ballroom is being built with private donations.
But should it? That land belongs to the people not to a president and his monied classes. The people are represented by Congress not by billionaire donors. The President should be asking permission from the people if he wants to change their house.
Additions to the White House have included private donations before. Each new president redecorates it without congressional input. I'm convinced that the objections are just another petty action on the part of petty individuals. There's plenty going on in our coutnry and the world that's a lot more important than silly games of gotcha being run in the courts.

There’s a difference between redecorating the White House and tearing down an entire wing.
