There are a lot of MAGA rightwing people that think it does represent a deity, more specifically Jesus Christ, and are asking him to apologize, Meg Basham, etc...If you think this portrays Trump as a deity, this mostly says something about you and where Trump is living in your head, rent-free. My advice is to find something else to think about.

Is there some reason to feature those not present or even on the radar of MN? This happens quite a bit.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:49 amThere are a lot of MAGA rightwing people that think it does represent a deity, more specifically Jesus Christ, and are asking him to apologize, Meg Basham, etc...If you think this portrays Trump as a deity, this mostly says something about you and where Trump is living in your head, rent-free. (i think) forum guidelines request not talking about those not present (to explain themselves)?

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Lots of people have incorrect ideas about things. Did you look at the rest of the pictures I posted?joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:49 amThere are a lot of MAGA rightwing people that think it does represent a deity, more specifically Jesus Christ, and are asking him to apologize, Meg Basham, etc...If you think this portrays Trump as a deity, this mostly says something about you and where Trump is living in your head, rent-free. Wife: I do not know the president’s rationale behind reposting this AI photo, but there is a famous artist named Giclee Del Parson (maybe Mormon?) that has several pictures of Jesus in a robe like this https://www.google.com/search?q=christ ... del+parson, and otherwise, His red sash typically goes from one shoulder to the opposite waist (for language nerds, that’s actually why they do the sign, king, queen, prince, princess, and Christ that way). That, coupled with putting his hand on a sick man’s head as though to heal him, would give people that impression.JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:39 am Both in context and out of context, the imagery is of some kind of spiritual leader healing people, which is, whether I like it or not, a quite common thing that pastors claim to do in America. (Another one of the images has him in a Benny Hinn-style white suit handing out Bibles.)
There is no reason to think this picture is portraying him as some kind of deity. It does portray him as some kind of Pentecostal preacher, but wearing archaic clothing, but the picture of him as King Arthur likewise portrays him in mediaeval attire.
Trump often reposts images or videos created by his fans, which these days is mostly AI slop.

Now, I don’t necessarily think Jesus looks anything like what is shown in the art, and I don’t see any reason to actually believe He had long hair, or wore a red sash (the white is supposed to represent His purity, and the red represents the blood He shed), but that is what a lot of people are going to be thinking, when they see that picture, so if that was not the intent, an apology would be reasonable.
Edit: By the way, this might seem unrelated, but I really miss Robert, because he actually knew how to put images into a post versus just showing the URL, and always had the funniest things on I think it’s funny. I just started thinking about that because of how technologically inapt I am

Here's a similar piece of art, depicting George Washington as a divine sort of lawgiver, ascended to heaven:

If someone is bothered by such a depiction of Donald J. Trump, then for consistency, I expect someone to also take issue with this depiction of George Washington. In the central group of the fresco, Brumidi depicted George Washington rising to the heavens in glory, flanked by female figures representing Liberty and Victory/Fame. A rainbow arches at his feet, and thirteen maidens symbolizing the original states flank the three central figures. (The word "apotheosis" in the title means literally the raising of a person to the rank of a god, or the glorification of a person as an ideal; George Washington was honored as a national icon in the nineteenth century.)

Wife: thankfully, the General stayed off of Twitter. He might have done well on Facebook though, given his detailed descriptions of breakfast.JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 11:36 am Here's a similar piece of art, depicting George Washington as a divine sort of lawgiver, ascended to heaven:
