Its their only winning strategy left really... of course if they somehow survive then the nuke is a forgone conclusion to be a major priority.Szdfan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 1:20 am MB Ghalibaf is the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament. Iran understands the leverage they have.
Iran doesn’t have to win militarily. As the weaker party, they can make the cost of US’s actions as politically painful as possible. This is one form of asymmetrical warfare — Iran is throwing as many cogs into the gears to make the war costly to the US.
Iran is making a bet that their ability to absorb pain is greater than ours.

It’s a fool’s errand to presume the future, there is always the unknown, as scriptures and world history aptly reflect.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

See the video link I posted in "The President is not well"... In it he describes solipsism... a term new to me, but corresponds with our commander in chief's narcissistic patterns of mind.Szdfan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 6:05 pmI think one of the dynamics I’m realizing about Trump is that he believes dominance over someone else means the weaker party will capitulate and he will get what he wants. To be fair, that’s happened a lot in the past. But what happens when the weaker party doesn’t capitulate? What happens when the weaker party digs in and resists harder?
I think that’s one of the dynamics with Iran. Both sides are declaring victory — Trump for US military superiority and Iran for surviving. Neither side is willing to back down because both sides still believe they can win. Iran has realized that they have leverage by controlling the Straight of Hormuz that they didn’t have before the war. US bombing against Iran has only hardened the regime’s resolve to resist the US.
That kind of stubbornness and resistance doesn’t seem to fit in Trump’s worldview. He stated yesterday that he didn’t care about but the failed peace negotiations because the US had already won the war, but that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening right now.

Also a good term for describing money being thrown down the loo... all because of one man's... I wonder what the lady voter sitting next to me on the bleachers is thinking now... she said back then before the election that she would be voting for the man who "would be putting money in her pocket!" Well it will be going into her gas tank now and not a lot of other things. How long before a full on recession because of the redirection of spendable income?

US retired the dedicated mine sweepers and replaced them with the LCS which are apparently... a waste of money. Some people have been saying the destroyers did the sweeping which is not in their role.temporal1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 6:39 amIt’s a fool’s errand to presume the future, there is always the unknown, as scriptures and world history aptly reflect.

Knifefish Unmanned Undersea Vehicle is one of the anti mine weapons the US has and its generally launched from... the LCS.
Its possible those LCS's are actually deployed there, there are 10 total in active service from what I know and I believe two are stationed in the middle east area.
As an interesting note, the US prior mine sweeper was made partially out of wood, the Avenger and could actually handle a near underwater detonation. These new LCS work only if they avoid the mines which is possible but regardless, both ships would take days to properly sweep the strait to remove the majority of mines if there even are any.

I guess he doesn’t get reelected to a third term!Szdfan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 10:23 pmAnd affordability was one of the reasons why Trump won the last election. What happens if he doesn’t deliver?JohnH wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:54 pmYeah, Democrats are really well known for making policy decisions to help lower gasoline prices.Szdfan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:42 pm Again, the dynamic is that both sides think they’re winning. The more pressure Trump puts on Iran, the more they resist. Iran knows the blockade affects gas prices in the US and they know a midterm election is coming in November. They’re aware that high gas prices will have political consequences for Trump and the Republican Party.![]()

If Democrats take back Congress, he might not get through his second. At a minimum, his agenda is DOA.
