Did this actually happen? I was under the impression no such action was taken against either of them.
Yup

Were the actions of Clinton, Obama, & Biden also criticized by the Catholic Church? I knew they were pretty vocal about voting for a pro-choice president- not sure what they believe to be worse- pro-abortion or Pro- destroying ways& means of a regime intent on “destroying innocent lives” with their chanting of “death to America” & “death to Israel” and slaughtering tens of thousands of their own people recently. Hard to believe a Pope is okay with that.
For a fact, the Catholic Church in the United States was highly critical of Biden, to the point that it became clear that if he actually went to church that they would refuse him communion. So it's a real stretch to think that the actions of Biden in particular was not criticized by the Catholic Church. Obama and Clinton were not Catholic. Therefore, my suspicion is that the Catholic Church didn't feel it had grounds to criticize them, but Biden, absolutely.
I was already aware of what the Catholic Church in the USA said regarding denying communion to both Biden & Nancy Pelosi - because of their very pro abortion position.
I was referring to the Pope making statements on military actions of our former Democrat presidents. Maybe they did, it’s only loud with Trump it seems. Does the Pope defend terrorism, I don’t know. President Trump was quite disturbed to hear an average of 11 Christians are killed a day due to their faith in Christ - somehow he was not informed about present day persecution to that degree. He’s not a fan of terrorism to be sure more the killing of Christians.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

The Catholic Church does have a fairly consistent moral framework. It opposes abortion, terrorism, and most wars. It has active programs to counter Islamic terrorism by working with Muslims to condemn religious violence among both Christians and Muslims. I'm not Catholic, but their encyclicals on these topics go into great depth on how they think through these moral issues, and some of them are worth reading.

In this thread, some of the moral issues are pretty clear cut. Is genocide or the threat of genocide acceptable or not? If our goal is to protect the Iranian people, should we kill thousands of civilians, bomb schools, shut off their water supply, and promise to extinguish their civilization?

I don't think that depends on whether the guilty party is an Ayatollah or an American President. I don't think we have to ask the Catholic Church to first prove to our satisfaction that they have been completely consistent on a huge range of American political issues - I don't think the Catholic Church is centered on American politics. I don't think bringing in political personalities or grievances helps clarify the question. All of that feels like muddying the waters.

Saying that's just "the art of the deal" or that he doesn't mean what he says doesn't help either. If this is the art of the deal, I want no part of it. Pointing out that Ayatollahs have also threatened reckless violence doesn't mean that it is right for the American president to do so.

I'm not Catholic, but if I had to choose between the Catholic Church or American politicians to tell me what is moral and what is not, I'd be more inclined to listen to the Catholic Church.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

The Catholic Church is also absolutely dead wrong about "just war".

The Catholic Church believes that war may be justified at times, but speaks out against most real wars.

Some people believe that war is never justified in theory, but justify real wars and deflect criticism from them.

I'm not a subscriber to just war theory but of those who are, I think the Catholic Church is among the most principled and consistent.

I watched an interview with Trump from 1980- he was 34- he’s been talking 46 years about dealing with Iran:
