In the meantime...
Hegseth: God deserves all the glory. Tens of thousands of strikes carried out under the protection of divine providence. A massive effort with miraculous protection. God is good.
Glad to see Christ and God are at the center of it all. In my view this is probably the worst form of idolatry. And yet, it finds itching ears across Christendom in America...The God is literally the God of War, Mars I believe is his name.
Exodus 32
And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Interesting. The NATO secretary general is praising Trump’s war on Iran, saying it has made the world safer. I wonder if this represents flattery in order to appease Trump and tone down his threats to leave NATO, or if he actually believes it.
I don’t think it’s flattery Mike, many in high positions understand & support & even praise President Trump because they know perfectly well the threat of Iran. I wish more democrats would listen to them. Of course it wouldn’t matter TDS is not going away.
Trump is disappointed with them for their lack of help. I’ve heard this explanation for that possibly being because so many Muslims have migrated into European countries that they are in a bad position to help- yes the migration of Muslims are now felt as a problem in some European countries. Sharia law now exists there and has even infiltrated our own country- I just heard Governor Ron DeSantis of FL sign legislation to ban Sharia law from FL because it is spreading in our own country. A pastor we listen to (former Amish) said America better wake up to this- so there are people realizing the agenda of radical Islam. These things are recognized by some in our own government at least.

If you’re going to use the old Testament, don’t forget the Israelites praise God over the victory in their battles that he himself commanded them to destroy every man woman in child on their way to the promised land. That was not idolatry that was obedience to his command, so let’s be consistent here. Not only that during the 6 day war in Israel in 1967 it’s a well known fact that that it seemed like God had miraculously helped Israel. That’s not the same thing as idol worship and God knows this- you make him out to be another God when you deny His commands to kill-

I don't deny his right nor command to kill. I deny this is the task he has left for Christians. But that wasn't the point I was trying to make. It's very, very dangerous to credit idols with the works God has done.

There is an easy way to find out. Wait until MAGA no longer has the triggers to blow up the world, wait until the next movement sweeps into power and see if he still thinks that.

Not all Christians see it the same way I agree but if they see the evil in the Iranian regime being destroyed and they were praying for success (after all that’s the whole point) then they’re seeing Gods Providential hand helping them to make others “more safe” then it’s not “idolatry” to give Him glory.
His elect has always done that when victorious. Remember most denominations realize the need for these kinds of military actions when trying to protect others. Sorry I just feel “idolatry” isn’t the proper dot to connect.

Tell that to the dead Iranian girls and their mothers. God's providence at work...
I agree with the idea that God does not bless military conflict, and that a disciple of Christ is not on the side of those who drop bombs. But I am really confused by the Pope of the Catholic Church using language like this. Has the Catholic church become pacifist? Has it renounced its own history of involvement with war? Or is he just saying that he thinks this particular war does not fit within just war definitions?
Pope Leo XIV wrote:God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.
Pope Leo XIV wrote:Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.
