Wife: I didn’t hear that one. I heard some sort of scientific explanation that I’ve long since forgot. Also, I think the map that I was shown had Antarctica at the edges and did allow for some curvature. I do know that I heard something about the style of fishbowl cameras in regard to some satellites or something like that.

The simple way to verify this is to open the window and see if the curvature disappears. I would predict the curvature is still there but the observer disappears.

As I understand it, some Boeing planes come with that capability.

As a literal child of the original Apollo program Iam neither opposed to Artemis nor wildly enthusiastic.
I do not understand the references that so many make to this being “historic”. What is historic?
Let’s leave out minor stuf like this craft went slightly further, or the first woman to look back at earth from the moon.

It's still pretty rare even if it's not the first.

It's the first space mission where a $30 million toilet failed that was also the first one to be designed to be "unisex" so that it would be more comfortable for women to use.

First unisex space mission? Or first unisex toilet. 'Cause I don't know what rock you've been living under but where I live unisex toilets have been a thing for a long time.

Allegedly, space toilets weren't designed with women in mind, until the $30 million (or $23 million, according to a different source I just read) design of the Artemis II's space toilet. The new toilet was hailed at some progress for gender equality or something since now women can comfortably use the facilities, although it appears what actually happened is that both men and women now uncomfortably can't use the facilities.

Artemis II is now less than 55,000 miles from earth, traveling around 5,775 mph and increasing in speed as it approaches earth. The return to earth is estimated to take place tonight at 8:07 pm Eastern Time. When it hits earth's atmosphere it will be traveling at roughly 23,800 mph.

I wonder what if feels like to hit the atmosphere. Is it like hitting the brakes really hard? Are you thrown against the seat belt? Or is it more gradual than that?
