Well, it's true that health is an issue that should be addressed from the perspective of the individual, the family, the community, and finally the state. I'm referring mainly to the argument used to finance the healthcare system with tax money; supposedly it's to help people, to heal them, but instead it ends up killing themJimFoxvog wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2026 10:30 pmI agree that this is perverse and immoral. In each case, we are talking about young women who, for the most part, are physically healthy but suffer mentally. And what does the State do? Instead of healing them, it kills them. [...]
This is immoral.
This is perverse.

Killing "inconvenient" people is cheaper for state than spending resources to help them. Such inconvenient people can include unborn babies, teenagers with depression, or, in this case, a rape victim who only ended up being a victim because of the state's actions.Thomas_muntzer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2026 9:00 am Well, it's true that health is an issue that should be addressed from the perspective of the individual, the family, the community, and finally the state. Stanley Hauerwas says that in the near future, if true Christianity persists, Christians "will be known as those peculiar people who don't kill their babies or old people."barnhart wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2026 7:05 amMaybe this is an area ripe unto harvest as Jesus said. The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand we are obliged to act accordingly.

Christians "will be known as those peculiar people who don't kill their babies or old people."
Even without Christianity.
Primum non nocere translates directly to "first, do no harm" and serves as a foundational principle in medical ethics, emphasizing that healthcare professionals should avoid causing unnecessary harm to patients while providing care. Although often associated with the Hippocratic Oath, the exact Latin wording does not appear in the original texts; it is derived from Hippocrates’ guidance in Epidemics, Book I, Section 11, which advises physicians to either help or at least avoid harming patients. ..
