Another path, is simply stay in whatever position you are and start following the way of Jesus and let the results take you where they will. As long as you can be in that spot, be a disciple in that spot. In some spots, you'll exited plenty quickly without needing to exit. But as long as you are there, maybe stay, and be the salt and light.
How is this different from what I said?

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

I would suggest preparing your young people for the draft that is to come.
This is just rumor and idle speculation.
With the White House "refusing to rule it out.........." So maybe it is not so idle.

I will be very, very surprised if a draft materializes anytime soon. I think public support would be low enough that the party in power would really take a hit in the next election cycle.

Not ruling out something isn’t a big deal. Landing troops (on the mainland) strongly indicates a very bad direction for possible draft.
I have heard, from good sources, they are stop-lossing people. That is also a bad sign.
Could you explain stop-tossing... I'm afraid I don't know what that means.

And I want to publicly commend you and a few others for bringing up this christian nationalist militarist angle and the possibility that this admin and its base lead by leaders like Hegseth WILL NOT be amenable to conscientious objector people or branches of Christianity...

I've been around too many ex-Mennos who in the last 20-30yrs have gone 180deg away from anything Menno/Anabaptist and thrown themselves head over heals for God & Country/revere-the-military, etc. They talk and sound like Hegseth or Doug Mastriano... And the militancy is all mixed in with shallow megachurchy and/or charismatic evangelicalism (along with trumpism of course) and the one thing they loathe as much or more than libs or Dems... is peace-church/nonresistant Menno/Anabaptists, especially those non-voting, plain/conservative ones! I realize it's a reaction and even one that may be justified by our imperfections..., but a visceral, passionate reaction all the same, with a bite. There might be exceptions among family members who are at odds in this area, but I expect this admin will respond to the support and the beliefs of their base... and the ex-Menno types in this base that I know will practically rejoice and shout "Praise the Lord", if men like Hegseth would put the squeeze on conservative, military service refusing Mennos. They passionately believe that we/many of you here are false, heretical christians for your peace stance! They believe that men like Hegseth or Doug Wilson or all the other tough guy machine gun lauding christians are the real, Biblical, true followers of Jesus! We're the Pharisees in this paradigm and deserving of punishment and retribution for not joining their political and military causes these last few decades...
So yeah, good luck/beg-for-miracles time on trying to convince them to let you or especially your young sons off easy if things get desperate and they need cannon fodder... This admin is all about breaking precedents whenever, however they can. I fully expect them to consider the no-draft notion or associated past norms, in like manner.

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller

I’m sorry for what you witness from formers.
I know some and none of them come across as what you describe. I know and visit a Church which is almost all formers of various Anabaptists (we were there Sunday) and watch their services and podcasts and they in no way come across as you describe and maybe Christians I know are exceptions but even those with no former Mennonite blood come across as you describe. No politics or talk of war even comes up at Church- I guess I’m fortunate. Our mega Church doesn’t say a word about it at the pulpit nor do we fly the American flag (or any flags)
That being said, since the Reformation, there was disagreement about interpretation of Scriptures regarding these things, this is not new- it definitely separated the Anabaptists from the Baptists several hundred years ago on through to today.

I’ve also witnessed for years on this forum speculation of things that were felt strongly would happen and never did.
Hopefully these speculations will be no different then past ones that never came to be.

Not letting people leave when their time is up. The ones I have heard of are pilots and other aviation people. Enlistment up? Tough.

Name comes from stopping the loss of “essential personnel.”

I think you’re right in the current climate, but if we were to experience a 911 type attack followed by the intense propaganda you would expect from the current administration I believe a draft would not be out of the question. I also agree with Jazman that conscientious objectors will not likely have as easy a time as they have for the past 75-100 years.

Particularly if the loudest representatives of COs decide to align themselves wholly with whatever the Democratic Party wants.

Or the Republican party.

I've heard the Democrats get very upset over non voters for letting Pres Trump in. I've heard Republicans get very upset over us living peacefully without supporting the military.

Both parties are not friend to the Christian or CO.

Basically the same except, I was trying to say let them exit you, rather than you exiting. It seems to me the counter culture statements could be quite powerful. Make them fire you...
