The MANY current reports of LONG lines+waits at U.S. airports reflect lots of things.
Through pics+videos, it’s clear, air travel has been normalized.

“Everyone” flies now.

In early decades of air travel, it was for the elite. It was formal. (i didn’t do it!)

The changes are pretty staggering.

remove power from politicians to shut down airports.

He’s not the first to suggest this. Some other countries privatize.
I don't think allowing a for-profit company to run those operations, which is what privatizing typically means, would be a good idea. But spinning them off into a separate quasi-public entity, similar to USPS or Amtrak, could be a useful way of keeping their finances and payroll segregated and less susceptible to political intervention meddling.

To be fair (speaking only for TSA), private security seems adequate at Kansas City and at San Francisco, and likewise it was also adequate before the TSA was created. (The 9/11 hijackers took things through security checkpoints that were allowed, so one cannot exactly complain the security was somehow inadequate pre-TSA, although the policies perhaps could have used improvement.) In my experience, the private screeners at SFO are more thorough than the TSA - they always find and confiscate my water bottle, for example. The TSA rarely does.

Nav Canada is a private, non-profit entity that operates air traffic control in Canada and seems to do an adequate job.

One agent suggested freezing it. She said it will pass if frozen.
But?-Burst the bottle? i’m afraid to try it.

Deserves serious discussion.
No need to reinvent the wheel, there are existing models to consider. This current situation is poor.

Since it is rare that I am travelling without an infant these days, I just bring as much milk and water through as I want since it's "for the baby" and there is no real limit on what you can bring with that. They actually have machines that analyse liquids very quickly, although on our last trip they didn't even bother to use it.

Atlanta Airport faces record crowds and long TSA lines as council considers private security options

The Atlanta airport is currently experiencing record crowds and long TSA lines due to a partial government shutdown that has left TSA workers without pay. The situation has led to the deployment of ICE agents to assist with crowd control and ID checks, allowing TSA officers to focus on screening bags and passengers. Travelers are advised to arrive four hours early to avoid major delays. The airport's website advises passengers to allow at least 4 hours or more for domestic and international screenings, and additional time for checked baggage.

The situation is being closely monitored,
and the council is considering private security options to address the ongoing challenges at the airport.

It might be worth noting Mr. Musk has averaged one tweet per about discrimination against white people for the last year.

Funny how the Elizabeth Warren types don’t mention that the SpaceX IPO made 4,000 employees millionaires -
“from engineers to cafeteria workers” - overnight.

Elon Musk employed over 170,000 employees, and yesterday, at the SpaceX IPO, over 4,000 employees, from welders to managers, became millionaires. Those 170,000 employees pay federal tax and shop in the economy to boost other employees at their business. Is a circle of wealth.

Not true Senator Warren, by today's values, Augustus Caesar was the world's first trillionaire.

Notice how when the media/politicians talk about a trillion dollars in private hands it's a TON of money and they list off the things you can buy with a trillion dollars. When they talk about the government having a trillion dollars it's not enough money, it really doesn't go very far.
