Confident the way of Jesus, his example of submission to the will of the father, obedience, willingness to suffer and living as defenceless sheep in a dark world will produce the victory God wants to see. Confident our calling to forego the coersive, worldly weapons is not meant to make victims but rather a calling to the heart of God, to participation in the redemption of all things in the very manner Jesus illustrated. It is a calling to true, lasting and effective power.
Yet Anabaptists fled for safety in America.
No one is asking Anabaptists or any other Christian army to go help the cause.
The power of Jesus is for everyone, not just Anabaptists.

Fleeing is one of the things Jesus specifically gave to his followers as a response to evil.
Hopefully the Iranians will be able to flee from evil. If you hear their stories they would love the freedom we all enjoy.
Unless we’re talking radical Islam who believes it’s their mission to convert the infidels (Jews and Christians) to Islam. They are taught from a young age, this hatred of Jews AND Christians, when you hear converts from Islam they tell this- not all Muslims, they are sected too but it is taught in their faith.

There’s a gross hypocrisy on Anabaptists complaining about a safe country with a huge army and simultaneously fleeing there since a powerful country isn’t being invaded and losing.

Perhaps it’s better just to be thankful one can live in peace, but take a break from armchair foreign policy.

Are you speaking this to others or are you including yourself in this admonition?

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

I don’t think claiming governments themselves should impose Anabaptist foreign policy is a valid thing.

I do think sharing the gospel with individuals is a very good idea. So for me that mostly has meant telling people the need to forgive and not harbour offence to an ex girlfriend, a cruel boss, and so on. I have not personally met someone in a while who was making choices about foreign policy.

I wish the best for them, including freedom from hate. I pray God's will for them even in times of oppression and invasion.

I didn't see an answer to this question. You don't need to answer it, but I was just curious.

I agree. I'm not sure who this is being addressed to as I don't know of anyone who does this.

Ernie, I am generally tired of seeing left-wing propaganda dressed up in plain clothes, and view with extreme scepticism those griping about one side on this is war who have not been dispensing equal complaints with the other side, whose warmongering is just as bad, if not worse.

I do not feel a need to parrot a political alignment and doing so is not actually an antiwar position, nor is it a gospel position, and this has been a pernicious problem going back to the era of Vietnam war protesters. Siding with Communists and the USSR is not a peace position. Neither is siding with the IRGC, Hamas, and Hezbollah. It is important to find a third way.

Aren't people who vote making choices about foreign policy?

I am tired of seeing both left-wing and right-wing propaganda dressed up in plain clothes and in non-plain clothes.
I agree there is a third way. But I am not seeing that from your posts.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing it in yours either. It is possible both of us are actually more partisan than we realise.
