In our state, private Christian schools are subject to the vaccines schedules and required reporting of the medical records as are public schools.
The local county health department holds our feet to the letter of the law. However, our state does allow for religious, or philosophical, or other exemptions. But to claim the exception, the parent has to spend time to get the exemption certificate. A few school families do this. County is perfectly content as long as they have the exception certificate.
This is similar to NYS except I'm not sure about the religious exemption, that may not exist.
It doesn’t, which is another example of NYS’s lack of religious and educational freedom.
Why would NYS need a religious exemption considering there are no vaccines mandated?

My understanding it was receded after the measles outbreak in the Satmar Hassidic community in Rockland county.

Unless you have a specific moral objection, based on fact, it is foolish not to get the MMR, DPT and Polio vaccinations. These diseases can kill or maim.

I think that is correct, those communities abused the exemption until it went away about 10 years ago.

Interesting to see having religious convictions described as "abuse".

When I was in school, the chicken pox and measles made its rounds. Classmates were out for a week and everybody came back afterwards. I don't recall there being any fear of these diseases. It was just something that happens. And once you had them, you were immune to them.

I had chicken pox before I went to school and measles when I was in 4th grade. I also had mumps in 2nd or 3rd grade.

I wonder why there is so much fear about these 'common' childhood dieases today? Are people's immune systems that much worse off today then they were 50 years ago?

We started out vaxing our children with all the recommended ones. Out of the first 3 fully vaxxed, 2 are autistic. We stopped vaxing and now with what is coming out about the vaxes I'm wishing we had this knowledge earlier.

Dr Paul Thomas's info on the difference between vaxed & unvaxed children has been very eye opening for me.

Yes, MOST of the time people recover. Many don’t. I bet you are too young to remember polio epidemics. Too young to have unvaccinated uncles that you never knew die from diphtheria. Too young to know what an iron lung is.

These diseases are forgotten BECAUSE of vaccination. Too bad your choice impacts your children who do not have a choice, and not just you who do.

Do you have the same level of concern for children that choices to use vaccines based on foetal tissue aborts?

My children all had chicken pox. One of my nephews that got the vaccine because the doctor insisted, got the chicken pox worse than his unvacinated siblings.

Google says before the vaccine there were around 4 million cases of chicken pox annually, with 100 - 150 deaths per year. That means 3,999,850 did recover.

I had the worst case of chicken pox I have ever seen, I was entirely miserable for the better part of a week. For three days I mostly slept and ate nothing. The pain was probably the worst I have ever experienced. I know That's rare, but if I had been given the option to avoid it, I certainly would have.

When I turned 50 I got the shingles vaccine because I was afraid I might be equally susceptible as it is the same virus.

The cells used in the fetal cell line in question were from an abortion, done for ether reasons years ago. These lines are will continue to produce cells indefinitely. You cannot bring that child back to life by refusing vaccines, you can only kill now living children by exposing them to disease that CAN kill.

I wish that they would have used some other method of creating these lifesaving vaccines. That bell cannot be “unrung.” Rejecting vaccination only serves to endanger now living children.
