Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

If that’s all it takes, it sounds like a win-win for everyone except the Castro family.

That's my thinking too. Ever siince Russia stopped propping up the Castro regime during the Gorbachev years it's been struggling. It turned to Maduro for oil and supplies in exchange for Cuban soldiers.
With Maduro's buddy relationship with China Maduro became a proxy for Chinese Communism to gain a foothold in the Western Hemisphere. It was believed that China was hoping to gain both Taiwan and Cuba which is only 90 miles off the coast of Florida.

The Cuban government has announced publicly for the first time that they are holding talks with the US. This has been in the news here for some time. Things appear to be pretty bad there due to Trump's energy blockade.

Apparently, these are thing things the US is pressuring Cuba on:
Any meaningful deal between the United States and the Cuban government, experts say, would have to include the release of all political prisoners, an end to the criminalization of dissent, permitting independent political organizing, the legalization of political parties besides the Communist Party and a restoration of basic civil liberties, including freedom of speech and the press.

Those seem to me to be legitimate issues to press.

Preferably without aerial bombardment and invasion.

That’s been going on my whole life, but yes, I don’t have a huge problem with sanctions.

After all, if Communism works so well, then it should lead to prosperity without trade with the capitalist pig-dogs of America, right?

Yeah. I do agree that economic sanctions are better than bombs dropping. But it's still a form of coercion and is ultimately backed by US military might in addition to its economic power.

I see this as much more reasonable and helping their people get rid of a dysfunctional regime that’s brutalized its own citizens for decades. The Cuban refugees in Florida (including Sec of State Rubio’s family) shared horror stories of life under the Castro dictatorship.

I choose not to do business with liquor stores, strip clubs, and firearm dealers who promote military styled weapons. Is this a form of “coercion”?

The US doesn’t let us do business with Russia either. Is that “coercion”? The US wants to limit how much money and supplies Russia can get from American businesses due to their never ending war against Ukraine. I think that’s reasonable.
