We are not going to be able to keep a major portion of the population to refrain from having sex outside of marriage. Planned Parenthood is primarily about birth control. With less access to birth control, there will be more unwanted pregnancies.

The “original idea” was for family planning help for MARRIED COUPLES.

What’s unraveled is for-profit and taxpayer funded promotion of fornication of every description, beginning with children.
If this was the original plan, there were serious lies involved.

Thus, PP services include all manner fornication problems, STDs, related cancers, i presume HIV AIDS is included?

This discussion reminds me a little of the feelings I have toward the Right to Life movement. I see good hearted people wishing to reduce abortions, grasping at methods they are convinced will be effective. It always seemed to me that using a legal strategy of enforcing individual rights against abortion would prove ineffective because individual legal rights contributed strongly to the current landscape. It's like fighting corruption with a different corrupt leader or maybe like putting out a fire by pouring gasoline on it. That movement has flowered, succeeded, got the supreme court ruling it wanted and has not reduced abortion at all.

Similarly utilizing planned pregnancy doctrine to reduce the number of abortions seems equally irrational. Stressing the individual autonomy of adults over children, born or unborn, will not reduce abortions any more than right to life did.

Any approach likely to produce results must be grounded in the reality of the inseparable bound together nature of humans as collectively the image of God.

As I understand it the largest provider of abortion services is your local hospital. So unless your nearest hospital is Baptist or Catholic more abortions are performed there than your nearest PP clinic, and they are getting paid for it.

i don’t contest it.
as a teen, i worked in a Catholic hospital decades ago. anything is possible, with correct legal language.

my bugaboo is (in my view) there’s a BIG difference in anything being LEGAL,
versus legal AND protected-funded-promoted with tax dollars.

this is now so pervasive, most take it for granted, IF a thing is legal, THEN gov steps in to assure it’s protected-funded-promoted to ALL, or .. “it’s not fair” let’s say) to those in poverty or whatever identified stumbling block might impair access.

gov/tax dollars are used to guarantee acceptance/normalization. no concern even about viability.

as people often used to say about gov, “it’s a racket”.

comparing the efficient kill rate of free bc pills+devices, abortions to deaths by military action puts the U.S. military to shame.
add in all the misery of STDs, etc., oof. (abortion as a stand alone prbably meets this description.)
