i was impressed with 1) the very warm welcome T received last year, and, 2) the ease T engaged with and received the welcome.
As-if there’s abundant life outside (trivial) U.S. political in-fighting.

Far be it from me to guess anything about the mysterious Middle East. i don’t know. i’m not a military person either.
i find it hard to believe the recent interactions+public displays of mutual respect in the ME were meaningless.

i don’t recall anything similar. Fighter jets and camel parades.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

But somehow it is ok for leaders of modern countries to sit in comfortable rooms "watching a TV show" while innocents around the world get killed in collateral damage, as a result of these leader's choices. I guess they figure it is survival of the fittest?
Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks...

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
While the young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul...

Thanks for sharing that. I don't remember reading this before.
Probably because you didn’t listen to rock & roll music in the 60s & 70s maybe you aren’t then familiar with Bob Dylan- he became rich by singing rock songs-

It has quite a bit to do with the price of T in China. Texas tea, that is.
None of these intelligence that are being interviewed are implying this OJ. They are giving the 47 year history here of a wicked regime of an oppressed people and pointing out how many of our own have been killed. The information being shared these past couple days is astounding ,
Chanting Death to America and Death to Israel conveys a leadership in Iran with plans.
This sounds similar to the justifications for invading Iraq. After Trump’s repeated claims that the US wasn’t going to start any more foreign wars, it’s interesting that we’re going back to the Neo-Cons.

Not just rich. Dylan won a Nobel Prize for Literature for his song lyrics.

I’m sure it wasn’t for “Lay Lady Lay”
Admittedly I liked him before I became a Christian when I was 15- he was talented and at some point he had turned to Jesus but I heard he fell away.

Tremendous talent. Mostly anti-war.
It’s sorrowful it was so intertwined with drug abuse and fornication. Lives were ruined+lost, including many musicians’.

The timing of cheap/free birth control pills contributed greatly to the dreadful mix.
Without, the stakes would have been too high for all the wild experimenting. The price is still being paid.

Anyone with a heart is happy for the Iranians right now- it’s been a long 47 years for them and to see them so elated is more than heartwarming. Listening to many interviewed these past couple of days thought they’d never see this in their lifetime.

It’s scary though. What next? Prophetically speaking we get closer every day. It is so important they get the right leadership now. They’ve been through horrid decades like none of us can relate to.

These intelligence are too intelligent to state publicly that Beijing is a target, even though it will obviously impact them.

I like “Lay Lady Lay.” I like to pair it with Kris Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make It Through the Night” and Johnny Cash’s version of “If I Were A Carpenter.”

I believe Dylan was awarded the Prize for his body of lyrics. Per the Committee, they gave him the award for “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” I think that’s arguable. I tell my students that song lyrics are poetry as a way to get them interested. They hate poetry (because they don’t understand it) but love music. Song lyrics and poetry share many of the same principles.

Now Dylan’s singing? That’s an entirely different issue, but they didn’t give him a Nobel Prize for that. Joan Baez singing Dylan songs is much more pleasant than Dylan singing Dylan songs.

Anything the US does without broad support from the Iranian people (and perhaps even with that support) is going to plant the seeds of future conflict.
I have not fact checked this, but a German podcast I listened to claimed that Reza Pahlavi has never renounced any of his father's actions. If true, that's a bad sign.
i know nothing of the son.
however, heirs can be surprising. probably unlikely to stir pots while his father lived, there can be hope for a new day.
the world is watching.
