Re: Refugees and Immigration: What does good look like?

No we aren't. Who is doing this?

I think we can talk about the fact certain groups are doing more of a certain thing (for example, Somalis are far more likely to be dependent on welfare than the general population of Minnesota) without hating people. I don't hate Somalis or refugees or immigrants. I don't hate people dependent on welfare either. However, I do think we can discuss that it doesn't really work to import a population that ends up 80% on public assistance.
I think you changed the subject, invoking Great Replacement theory ("Are you saying citizens should be replaced with refugees...")
I was asking you what you were saying. You keep saying that refugees are somehow "better" than U.S. citizens. So what conclusion are we supposed to draw from that?
I do not believe that every new immigrant "replaces" a citizen.
Immigrants replace citizens who are looking for a job, and drive down wages. (Hence why big business wants lots of immigration.)

Immigrants replace citizens who are trying to rent a home or buy a home, and drive up the cost of housing.

We should be realistic about talking the realities of such things.

Boot, I regularly get contacted about job openings that are for immigrants only. For whatever reason, they are not open to U.S. citizens. It's right there in the information I get where visa information and H-1B transfer information is asked for.
I also think that the vast majority of Americans are descended from immigrants. At one time, Irish were considered undesirable, and so were Germans. Plenty of hate was directed at them, too. Spreading hate is not good. Many of our ancestors were affected. Mine were. The fears were not justified.
Boot, we need to be able to talk about things without just resorting to accusing the other of "spreading hate".
We still speak English in America, not German.
And I think we've all heard "para español, oprima el dos" plenty of times. English has been largely displaced by Spanish in many areas.

If the media is entirely untrustworthy, how can we trust this report about what is happening in Lancaster. Maybe no one is being disrupted at all.
“Some” media is definitely more trustworthy than others.
My suspicion in your case it is media that completely agrees with your Christian Nationalist point of view.
It certainly isn’t the ones that agree for your lawlessness points of view

Lawless? I know the Constitution quite well. I am certainly not "lawless." But I believe in Rule of Law. The current occupant of the white house apparently does not.

Seems knowledge of Constitution affects/conflicts with Scripture. Apparently the Mennonites that appeared in Target have a Christian Nationalist works-

Anyway the Supreme Court interprets the constitution/ which seems to agree with Trump. Not your area of expertise which is why we have the Supreme Court

Have you investigated the record of this administration loosing cases brought to the courts as compared to any administration in recent history? I think it is reasonable to say the courts have not "agreed" with the Trump administration on average or similarly to previous administrations.

Do you actually know how many cases this administration has lost? Only count actual decisions and not preliminary stays. Those are frequently reversed when the actual decision is rendered.

Do you know how many "No Bill" findings have been returned by Grand Juries related to attempts to get indictments? It has been said that a good district attorney could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. We just saw a "No Bill" returned in the case of the administration attempting to indict a group of representatives and Senator Mark Kelly for producing the video that the administration does not like. That alone says something.

I really think this was unnecessary. I will hold on a formal warning, but if hits like this keep happening, I will not warn again. Comments like this are a passive aggressive attack instead of a desire for honest communication. It needs to stop.

i viewed 21min.

i saw several black women describe their personal experiences and histories, with appreciation for the president, whose life’s history wrt minorities doesn’t conflict with their encounters with him. these women aren’t one-offs.

i pray for most, esp those in all leadership, because scriptures instruct so, it’s up to the Spirit to discern.
That’s not weaponizing spirituality.
Don’t assign motives?? Please.
Please stop speculating about my spirituality or spiritual state.
cough.
i hope it’s understood, prayers cannot be stopped. it’s tried! it’s futile.

like it or not, we are spiritual beings, our existence, our choices, acts, words, reflect our spiritual state.
no academic degree can shelter from this. no claims of being atheist, even. (not in my mind.) i don’t believe in atheists.

i don’t believe in separation from the spirit. i accept the folly of human reasoning that wants to deny the spirit.
human reasoning is a mist. Isaiah 44:22
