Second video he talks about God helping him.
Emergency call released of 13-year-old Austin Appelbee telling authorities to get a helicopter after he swam for four hours to reach the shore.

Appelbee was heard calmly telling authorities that his mom and siblings were stranded at sea.

The boy was heard explaining that his mom told him to swim to shore after they had been swept out about 2.5 miles.

After four hours of swimming, Appelbee had to run about 1.25 miles to reach a phone.

"I’m sitting on the beach right now, and I have to also explain. I think I need an ambulance because I think I have hypothermia … I feel like I’m about to pass out."

Swims for four hours, sprints 1.25 miles, his body is failing, and he calmly instructs emergency responders to send out a helicopter.

The part where he said none of the "foreigners" on the beach would help him was very sad.

“Jesus was with me in the boat,” he said after spending eight hours lost at sea.

Miguel, a 10-year-old boy in Brazil, went out in a small canoe and suddenly the wind started pushing him farther and farther away from the shore. Little by little, he could no longer see land, and by the time he realized it, night had fallen completely.

Imagine the desperation back at his house. His family and the rescuers went out searching everywhere, combing the sea in the middle of the darkness without stopping.

Meanwhile, Miguel was still out there floating alone, surrounded by the sound of the waves and total darkness. Eight hours passed like that until finally a boat managed to find him and bring him back.

When he arrived with his mom, everyone thought they would see him trembling or crying from fear. But no, he was calm. He hugged her and said something that left everyone speechless: that during those hours he hadn’t been alone, that Jesus had been with him in the boat.

It’s not natural or easy to be grateful for fleas. :)

i hope this FB link will open.

Even if you don’t like her music .. view to the end. She’s entitled to her song and barefoot dance. (ouch)
i’m sure her loved ones and caregivers love this.

“Today I’m celebrating my 1-year “heartiversary” with a parody song. 😂🎶 Because God brought me through. ❤️‍🩹

i remember feeling like this every spring after surviving yet another deadly childhood disease, measles, mumps, chicken pox, and more. i remember how it felt to be allowed to go outside. how every little new plant popping up after winter seemed spectacular. being able to walk, run, skip to school. Gratitude.

not everyone survives these things. Mollie earned her song and dance. God bless her. :D

Missing Robert today and saying a prayer for his family. I'll always like this post of his.

It’s impossible to describe what life was like before the polio vaccine.
i was very young when given those little pink sugar cubes, still, i sensed the incredible relief in my mother as she watched me ingest them. i suppose she feared i would spit it out! valid fear, if i recall. :-|

Polio wasn’t the only deadly disease people feared on a daily basis. Not at all. It was of the most vicious.
While people in history were doing all they did, deadly disease was ever-present. Only as far back as my elders, huge differences.

i had a cousin just a bit older who had polio. i miss him. he passed about 10 years ago. he lived in spite of polio.
Like this young woman and many like her, he had loving parents/family who devoted their lives to helping him have his best life possible.

He graduated college and worked as an accountant. In his bulky crutches. Amazing. Humbling.

i have huge respect for physical therapists. Every day is a day at “the olympics” of living.

i’m sorry this instagram is framed from a “feminist” pov. Almost impossible to avoid. There’s so much more to it than that.

Polio
womanicapodcast WROTE:
When she developed polio and was left paralyzed from the condition, doctors said she’d never ride horses again. But she went on to win an Olympic medal anyway.
