Re: Today ...
Got the stitches out about 10 days ago or so. I graduated to a cane last week. That walker was awkard. Or walkward. Whichever way you look at it it's a pain.
Still stiff. Walking on hills is not fun right now. Wouldn't be great if we could roll uphill?
Doctor told me that after about two months there will be a pop and it's just the scar tissue letting loose so's I'm not to panic and call 911.
Still getting a lot of bionic jokes but it's all part of the fun.

Got a herniated disk on L5 Friday. Today is the first day without extreme pain. Slowly on the mend.

Today ..
My grdaughter’s Catholic school closed for the day.
i don’t know about others. i saw some reports that some students and many employees were warned against playing hooky.
Yesterday afternoon-evening i drove in a nearby busy suburb. Traffic was busy, but, reasonable, like the before-2020 Seattle riots.
Could the Seattle people please go home??!
oof. i will if you will.
Meanwhile, the sincerely fabulous light rail police were touting as the best way to Seattle was sabotaged again.

It’s discouraging to see such wonderful progress made in infrastructure+services, ruined by crime+drugs, encouraged by awful policies. What a terrible waste.
Copper theft has been a problem for as long as i remember.
i was young when i first heard of thieves stealing copper gutters from churches and university buildings.

It turns out that left-wing fantasies like making everyone use public transit aren't compatible with other left-wing fantasies like refusing to investigate, prosecute, and punish thieves.temporal1 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 2:50 pmMeanwhile, the sincerely fabulous light rail police were touting as the best way to Seattle was sabotaged again.

Then reading about R7ehr’s recent trip to Japan.
i dont believe i’d like to live in Japan. But this??
R7ehr wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 11:36 pmI just returned from a visit to Korea and Japan. What you are talking about is remarkably different in both of these countries. Theft, shop lifting, mugging, are extremely rare. They pride themselves on their public safety. We were told both places about how safe we, and our belonging were there. If you leave an unattended belonging in a public space, it would be expected to be still there for you to come back and get it. Responsible, respectful, polite public behavior is normalized. Very different vibe than the USA.temporal1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 11:06 pm PNW,
i was in a smallish shop today with 2 very nice female security officers. Why was 1 needed??!![]()
Recently, i was at a grocer, i needed to go outside to choose a small plant, i asked the clerks if i could leave my cart just inside the door, i didn’t want them to think i was running off without paying?? - They were so nice, saying certainly, smiling, saying they’d just had someone do that - run off with items without paying.
What a life.i’m sooo sorry for the normalized depravity everyone is forced to accept.
i’d prefer voters not choose this low life for everyone.
These countries are top examples on this topic. Well ordered societies.
