Who said anything about LGBT? That’s not most people on the left or the right.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:57 pmI agree with the first. I disagree with the second. I'm not even sure what masculinity means in parts of LGBTQ+, or how that relates to family and being helpful to others without seeking credit.
I think we need to promote healthy masculinity. And that includes saying there is something called masculinity, rooted in creation, as the Bible teaches.

Re: Masculinity
First off, there's the very simple truth that there are male bodies and female bodies, and God created men and women so that we can become one flesh with each other.
Jesus is the model for all disciples, men and women alike (Matt 16:24; Eph 5:1–2). Faithfulness, humility, self-giving love, obedience to the Father, and willingness to suffer for what is good are the central virtues, and they are not exclusively male or female.
Some parts of the Bible do speak separately to men vs. women. Men are repeatedly exhorted toward courage, self-control, and steadfast responsibility (e.g., 1 Cor 16:13–14; Prov 20:7). Husbands, in particular, are called to sacrificial love that mirrors Christ’s self-giving for the church (Eph 5:25).
But I think a lot of masculinity is simply accepting ourselves as God created us, in bodies that are male, thanking God for his wisdom in creating us this way, and living out our calling as disciples of Jesus. The Bible does not call us to be "masculine" or define what that means, it calls us to be disciples.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.
