Miriam Carey / 1979-2013

Miriam Carey / 1979-2013
In total, they unleashed 26 bullets into the car Miriam and her baby were trapped inside.
Five of them pierced Miriam’s body, one through the back of her head.
Unarmed. Fleeing. No criminal record. Miraculously, her baby was not hit by bullets.

obama was president, he was not in D.C. at the time of the (alleged slaughter)
D.C. is an established Dem city/district
presumably, D.C. police are majority POC
presumably, no D.C. police funding problems
presumably, D.C. police have the best training and equipment possible

Miriam Carey Was Killed By Police In October 2013: We Still Have Questions
https://newsone.com/5645851/miriam-care ... by-police/

It’s impossible (for me) to ignore insane political bias.

To this day, the questions surrounding Miriam Carey’s death at the hands of law enforcement are lengthy and, in their persistence, somehow, especially chilling.

These are just a few:
Why did police abandon protocol and shoot at a moving vehicle, particularly one that had a baby in the back of it?

Why did police risk turning a car into an unguided missile that threatened uninvolved civilians by killing its driver?

What was their need—if they were truthful about their perceptions of Miriam—to allow false narratives about the events of the day to continue to be repeated?

Why try to block a woman into the very perimeter they were there to protect, and why wasn’t the perimeter clearly marked? Why, knowing it wasn’t, were they unusually aggressive toward an unarmed woman traveling with a baby?

Why keep the shooters’ names private if they legitimately believed Miriam may have been about to commit an act of terrorism?

Why draw guns on Miriam in the first place? That alone was a rarity–and one not undertaken the month prior when a man armed with a knife actually jumped a fence and ran into the executive mansion. He was tackled.

Why was law enforcement’s response to one Black woman and a baby so disproportionately so much greater than the response to thousands of rioters who descended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021?

Why not release all the documents relevant to the killing of a mother in front of her child, and why not release the police radio recordings from that day?

Years pass. This case baffles as if it happened yesterday.
Presumably, M.Carey’s family and friends regularly vote Democrat. i believe they are sincerely stupefied.

This isn’t a current event. Bringing a President into it makes it sound political too. Not interested.

i chose Current Events because 1) police brutality is very much a current topic, 2013 isn’t distant, isn’t historical;
2) i wanted it to be in the same category for future searches, i set it up like the Iryna Zarutska topic, another unarmed young woman murdered from behind: https://forum.mennonet.com/viewtopic.php?t=8294

i may add more examples, sadly, there’s no shortage.

i’m more than willing to follow mods’ direction on how to proceed.

i’ve referred to the Miriam Carey case on forum several times since 2013, your response may be the first.
i have no explanation for others’ disinterest.

I don't like excessive force or cover-ups and democratic administrations are equally capable of both and need to be held to account, but have you read the details of this case? She crashed through barriers, drove onto the white house protected area, fled police, struck at least three officers and several police cars with intent, drove through red lights at high speed and ended by driving onto protected congressional area... If police force is to be used at all, it is for this type of activity.

The question, of course, if you would feel the same way if the forum subject title were Miram Carey / 1979 - 2026.

I have noticed a tendency amongst most people to be very partisan about these things, and their responses are sadly predictable based on their political allegiances (even if they claim not to have them). This seems to be on display in this thread.

T1, if you are looking for examples of violent federal law enforcement and cover up under Democratic administrations, I suggest Waco and the aftermath of Ruby Ridge.

i’ve been remembering that, and thinking how many changes made since.
Nobody wants that, including law enforcement. It’s a tragedy, not a goal.

No healthy, well-adjusted, informed person wants another Waco.

^^This is a good way of wording it. Sorry to say.

Miriam Carey evidently did wrong.
With no public investigations or court rulings, i’m not sure what all she did wrong, not sure officers were physically harmed.
These are allegations. She is alleged to have been unarmed. i believe it. No court ruling. No known rap sheet.

26 bullets fired, 5 in her back. She was unarmed and fleeing.
“Not a threat, no longer a threat” is what is said in certain other cases. It’s the stark bias that is questioned.

In other news, this is all that would matter, she would be upheld as a quintessential victim of police brutality, her family would be multi-millionaires. Statues erected, roads renamed, designated moments of silence. She was pretty with a beautiful baby, had a respectable job, ideal subject for msm.

- - - - - - -

i’ve noticed -
following Miriam Carey, there have been several breaches of White House fences/gates - no more resulting in death.

i see police and military implementing improved policies and actions over time. i choose to appreciate it.

The answer is that nobody saw any political benefit for themselves from doing so.
