Now that was funny. Yep there’s folks like that everywhere. I like how the store handled it. Here’s your money and a gift card.

Yes, that is how some people are, always wanting a fight. But as Christians and anabaptists, shouldn't we be peacemakers. Occasionally Hubby will work for someone and the customer calls, usually irate, and says the bill was too high. We have found the best response to be, "you pay what you think is fair". That always calms the customer down. In one case the amount due was substantial and we figured; we wouldn't get paid much. In the end, if I recall correctly the customer took a mere $25 off. I think he was one of those who wanted a "fight".

Well now I agree with you. Christians really can show folks a better way. I’ve been around enough to know that in some cultures and families that kind of feisty grab the world and shake it attitude is part of their every day people talk. It becomes a sort of bragging rights like war trophies.
“I went in there and told him her it and they gave up.”
There’s folks that will argue and debate until the paint peels and the barn falls down.
My wife recalls an interaction where a 40-ish woman tried to butt in ahead of an elderly woman because she was in a hurry she said. The elder woman just stood there and said real calm- I’ll let you be responsible for your own problems. The pushy lady backed off and got in the back of the line. That older woman did the Christian thing too by not fighting but she also didn’t let Miss Pushy take advantage of her. One of these reasons older folks are let ahead in line is because they have aches and pains and it’s hard enough on them just to get their groceries.

"Blessed are the peacemakers."

Can't have a better motive than the Creator's affirmation.
