New Anabaptist Traditional Text Bible Project
New Anabaptist Traditional Text Bible Project
Is anyone out there familiar with the new translation project by conservative Anabaptist types? As I understand it, the project is supposedly being approached in three steps. First the publication of the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This has now been completed. Eventually, the rest of the New Testament, and eventually the Old Testament, will follow.
Several folks in my area have ordered copies. So far, I’ve heard no real complaints. However, be aware that it does not use red lettering, and it follows the KJV format of not capitalizing pronouns for the Trinity; but it does update wording that as modern Americans we might find confusing. It is available directly from Traditional Text Bible Publishers, PO Box 551, Ephrata, PA 17552 — Phone: 717-723-8017.
Some folks have found copies at various resellers. I purchased mine at https://kingdomreading.com/?s=TTB&post_type=product
If you should purchase a copy, please do post your feelings. I would like to know what others think. To be honest, at first I thought somewhat negatively, but I have since changed by mind.

Re: New Anabaptist Traditional Text Bible Project
Is it based on the KJV, or on the same textual tradition?

My understanding is that Keystone requires KJV-only for public reading, and that when other versions are referenced in a church service, they are restricted to NKJV and Traditional Text. I hope I have that nuanced correctly.

Has any concern been given to denominational bias. I have some questions about how healthy it is for a translation to be done "in house" by a single person or a team from a single viewpoint.

I would say the team involved doesn’t have a single viewpoint.

Maybe they should. After all, Jesus wasn’t married.

A sister in our church has copies of the gospels that were published. I glanced at them but didn't take them home to fine-tooth-comb them. Honestly, I wouldn't know much about how to do that anyway. There are a couple passages I have run into in some translations that I disagreed with (Hebrews 4:13 is a big one), but I can't think of may of those instances off the top of my head. Certainly not any in the gospel accounts.

The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand we are obliged to act accordingly.

The actual action that was communicated to the ministry only covered public reading. It did not mention references to other translations. I occasionally reference 1984 NIV and 1995 NASV and from what I have seen that is still acceptable. So yes and no to what you have heard. I have always been a “Majority Text “ advocate.ohio jones wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 10:54 pm My understanding is that Keystone requires KJV-only for public reading, and that when other versions are referenced in a church service, they are restricted to NKJV and Traditional Text.
