This is the first CA female pilot that I have heard about.
Anyone know of others?
Is she still CA and is she still flying?

Clair Schnupp from North Youth Programs taught his daughters to fly.
Interesting point. Those lines were still forming in 1980, things weren't as set in stone as they are now.
I don't think she has flown in years. It was a bit of a fad at that time, a number in my parents generation got pilots license.
Seems we are carrying on a tradition. I fear we have lost some of the community focus and individual opinions and ideology has taken a bigger part here. Some of that is from a more openness of others allowed outside the faith.
my sense is the forum lost much of its original community, it was a young community, naturally they left for work, formal ed, marriage and families, also (from what others have shared) they left for FB and other social media outlets. i’d so hoped their younger sibs would replace them. that hasn’t happened. there was a big move away from family-centered desk top computers to smartphones... we have lost some of the community ..
Amazing! I'm amateurishly interested in aviation and here in Lanc Co, and my growing up - a private plane said "money" and "businessman" (as all the Mennos I know who ever got into or get into private aviation (other than missionary work) have those 2 things) But I've never known a Menno woman to be involved in that. I'm guessing those ingredients maybe? and some gumption?
I suspect it was more affordable then. Several family members could chip in to keep costs down. It seemed similar to owning other recreational vehicles like a boat or ATVs. It was a recreational pursuit. My grandparents would fly to Georgia just to visit just like people drive today.Jazman wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 4:07 pmAmazing! I'm very curious what she did with those skills throughout her life?
Is that book still in print or available? I would love to read this couple's story.
