It's rather obvious, Boot, that if a country is not in America's sphere of influence they will typically end up in Russia or China's sphere of influence.
I do not think we should threaten our neighbors with military force to bend them to our will. I do not think we should murder people we are not at war with or conduct extrajudicial killings.
Unless of course, our neighbors are not being neighborly by killing our people. Then it’s not mirder it is defense.
The “war” on drugs.
Oh really?
Using that logic it would be OK to go out and kill the people who refuse to get vaccinated for measles. Or to go out and kill drunk drivers.

The logic I have a harder time with is that it’s apparently OK to kill peole provided you declare war on them first.

Yes, exactly.
And the government has passed laws that say it is legal to kill terrorists, designated enemy combatants who are part of terrorist orgs, and that they can also keep much of this secret / classified. Which is why I think it’s better to just view it all as part of wars of aggression, which states certainly can do, but as Christians we encourage people to repent and turn away from bearing the sword.

The “intention” of Drug cartels and drug Lords is to harm people. For money. Not the same thing. I was simply answering Boots referring to them the way he was. Democrats seem to always defend the bad guys. You all are perfectly free to try to convert them. How would you go about that?

So far, I have seen no evidence that Venezuela is a significant manufacturer or conduit for drugs that reach the United States. They are a conduit for cocaine to Europe, but fentanyl is the drug that is killing people, not cocaine, and Europe is not the United States.
Also, there is no public evidence that these boats were carrying drugs of any kind. And for some reason, they are sinking the boats to the bottom of the ocean instead of capturing them to see what evidence they carry.
And we are not in a declared war with Venezuela. The people on these boats don't seem to work for Venezuela. So it sure looks a lot like murder to me.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

To me, there's a difference between:
1. Punishing someone found guilty of a crime, and
2. Killing someone after claiming they are guilty, with zero public evidence whatsoever.
"Show me the person, and I will show you the crime" - it is really easy to accuse people of horrible crimes with zero evidence at all. To many people, the very fact that we have killed them proves that they must have been guilty. But it doesn't.

So if war were declared (which America hasn’t done since 1942), would you feel better about this?

They seem to have a lot of details about this that you do not.

So ... as long as they say they have evidence of a crime, that's good enough? No need to make any of that public, just go ahead and kill them?
What if you were the accused?
