This doesn’t surprise me. I read in a number of places that China is the one pushing this whole climate fear because they have batteries, solar panels and windmills to sell the rest of the world.
China can’t compete with fossil fuel countries because they don’t have oil for themselves.

Not sure if this is considered a credible news source but this is a brief summary, there is more detailed information elsewhere.

The elites have new priorities and new things they want, so we don't hear about "climate change" and "carbon" nearly as much as we used to. Instead of punishing us with carbon taxes, carbon limits, banning cows, banning dairy animals, and claiming anything bad is due to climate change, they're instead just trying to build data centres like mad to try to usher in the era of AI faster, despite the fact these AI-oriented data centres consume a great deal of power and also consume a lot of water. A typical "gigawatt" data centre optimised for AI uses as much power as 500,000 homes do.

Of couse, we're supposed to just accept that electricity prices are going to go higher because of this... right after we were told that things like natural gas water heaters, stoves, and furnaces are evil and we need to switch to "all electric homes".

Can you explain how the water is being used? Flowing through a giant radiator???? Geothermal cooling??? Was aware they consumed a lot of electricity but recently learned they need huge amounts of water.

70% of internet traffic flows through northern VA, aka the Dulles Technology Corridor and there's been a lot of push back on the data centers.

My son described this to me several years ago when i asked about a Prius.
A popular car in the nearby university campus area.

It’s not as tho “they” (pushing EVs) don’t know.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Data centres are ideally located near a cheap water source and the water is used for evaporative cooling, sort of like a "swamp cooler". The water just evaporates into the air.

Technologies like geothermal do exist but would cost more.

I hear tell it’s to cool the computers. I’m also hearing that counties in the South that have a large lake are putting ordinances in their planning codes that forbid the construction of these data centers because the centers use so much water the lake would be completely drained in a drought year and reduced by half or more in a normal rain year. That’s dissstrous for cities and communities that depend on lake water for drinking and farming.

I’m dreaming of a warm Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops are palm leaves
And children can only believe
That somewhere there is Christmas that has snow

I’m dreaming of a warm Christmas
With every Christmas card I write:
May your days be merry & bright
And May all your Christmas’ have white(caps) 🎶🎶🎶

I’m a true Buckeye. I remember being thrilled at snow when we moved to OH from coastal area of southern CA.

Today it is 23 degrees below today’s average.

Bring on some global warming!
