CBS / UPS identifies pilots in deadly plane crash / -4min
Found in Comments:
@shannanbegley8189 WROTE:
These pilots are heroes, they did everything they could to keep that plane in the air and away from buildings.
Prayers for all the loved ones.

@RexMcWatt WROTE:
it was the left engine pylon mount that broke. My cousin was on AA Flight 191 in Chicago that crashed.
Never thought this would happen again
i believe the Chicago crash was 1979.

Several fatalities on the ground in Louisville.

i don’t know anything about this source, this video seems to present a respectable EARLY unofficial overview of the incident, and the area. i have no idea how so much video could be located then so quickly edited for the public.

NTSB Drops BOMBSHELL On UPS 2976 Crash Investigation

Moments after lifting off from Louisville, a fully loaded UPS MD-11 freighter burst into flames, carving a half-mile scar of destruction through warehouses and scrapyards. Within minutes, NTSB investigators were on scene, and tonight—newly released briefing footage confirms what pilots feared most: the aircraft lost an entire engine mid-takeoff.
i’m not sure about the headline, i routinely ignore headlines.

Official preliminary reports will take time/weeks, official final reports may take a year.

Hopefully they will find no foul play.

Really? Because you do seem determined to keep everyone else from ignoring them, by posting more on the forum than anyone else.

i post content others might find informative, interesting. not headlines.
i realize not everyone will read/view links, some have filters, etc. i have no expectations about response. sometimes there’s response, sometimes not.

Encouraging news wrt above “BOMBSHELL” headline. :wave:

In Comments, several have complained about the headline, in my view, this is important.
i believe the internet remains in primitive days, its future is unknown.

i prefer spontaneous consumer feedback directed to content creators, more than gov regulation.
i’d like to see more of it, esp wrt foul, uncouth language, immodesty, sensationalism.

Consumers can demand better quality. The internet makes it ‘way easier than ever before.

Examples in Comments:
@josephrocha7879 WROTE:
What's the bombshell?
How is a "modern jet" that's 34 years old be modern? It sounds like a school project.
@turquoiseriver2476 WROTE:

Good review of info.“

As a rank amateur, i agree. Good compilation of EARLY info, combined with relevant area info.

The headline “needs improvement”. True for MANY internet reports.

Interesting (to me) often, in corporate msm, when Comments are negative about reporting,
they turn Comments OFF and remove comments, all or in part. :-|

i often review Comments, esp in aviation.
There’s no way to verify sources or OPINIONS, but, frequently (claimed) professionals, active and retired, will chime in to add clarity.

Certainly, nothing in Comments or content should be confused with FACT - exactly as (i find) msm to be. Reader beware. :shock:

You didn't routinely ignore this one for some reason. The headline appears on the embedded video, and you repeated it not once, but twice, and continue to draw attention to it.

Any thoughts about the incident at LAX just over a week ago? That could have been an exceptionally bad one. Quick response on the part of ATC and the AA pilot, thankfully.

i note headlines and other input as a reminder to myself and courtesy to others, because OFTEN, links, graphics, etc., just disappear without warning or explanation. It happens to everyone. A lot of Robert’s links have disappeared, without any reference at all about what they were.

i try to add enough to recall later what it was about, or look it up if interested.

It’s not intended to be “determined” redundancy. The intent is to be courteous. It does require extra effort.
i’m sorry if it comes across weird.

If it’s unwanted, i won’t insist. It’s meant as a courtesy, in the event. :)

i’ve only seen a blip about the LAX incident, i’m not sure what happened.
i’d be grateful for you or anyone to add it here.

BlackboxAnalyst / NTSB Releases NEW EVIDENCE From UPS 2976 Crash | Cockpit Audio & Engine Separation Explained / -14min
@majeedpanahi5783 WROTE:
6 hours ago
I have flown the Lockheed Tristar L1011 , a state-of-the-art aircraft, similar in design to McDonald Douglas DC10 and this version, the MD11. To maintain their licenses, flight crews must undergo rigorous competency checks every six months in advanced flight simulators. These sessions test their response to critical failures, from a single engine failure on takeoff to the most severe scenario: a complete engine separation.

An engine separation event is far more catastrophic than a simple failure. The sudden loss of an engine's massive weight creates a violent, asymmetrical force. This severely complicates a pilot's ability to control the aircraft's yaw and roll, presenting a control challenge far beyond a standard engine outage.

The Gap Between Training and Reality
In theory, and according to aircraft manufacturers, engine separation is a survivable event if correct procedures are followed. Simulators are programmed to model this physics, and pilots train to the established protocols.

However, a sobering reality remains: in modern aviation, no commercial pilot has survived a low-altitude engine separation to recount the experience. While training pushes the boundaries of preparedness, this particular scenario represents the formidable line between a controlled emergency and an uncontrollable catastrophe.

We honor the crews who have faced these unimaginable circumstances.
God bless their souls.

Excellent reporting.
Denzel in the cockpit wasn't really relevant, but overall a great, informative and unbiased analysis!
Thank you!
A few comments about use of movie footage (Denzel Washington) to represent cockpit chaos, i didn’t mind it.
It didn’t seem exaggerated or exploitive to me.

Aviation Matters / The High-Flying Language of Pilots
https://foawa.org/the-high-flying-language-of-pilots/
“Aviate, Navigate, Communicate”

This phrase sums up the pilot’s priorities in an emergency. First, keep the plane flying (“Aviate”). Next, determine your position and course (“Navigate”). Finally, communicate with air traffic control and passengers about the situation.

It was probably Sully’s description of his incredible experience of the SUCCESSFUL emergency landing on the Hudson River when i first heard the pilots’ phrase: AVIATE, NAVIGATE, COMMUNICATE

With only 25 seconds from the alarm, i imagine these 3 EXPERIENCED UPS pilots were 200% focused on AVIATE, their training.

Very unusual, i haven’t noticed speculative criticism of the pilots or ATC.
Louisville isn’t far from me, i have family and extended family in the area.

Today’s RT cameras - multiple RT cameras, put human brains in the moment.
i was young, but Vietnam LIVE news coverage was very hard on viewers, adults having experienced WWII and Korea.
Much of that was on black+white TV, and radio. Many suffered witnessing young men mangled right before their eyes.

For me, these Louisville reports are in the category of coverage of Charlie Kirk and Iryna Zarutska. The RT grisly horror.
It’s one thing to “know” and imagine. Another to see it in color HD action.

They train so hard.
