My complaint is the number of complaints, not their location.

i’m bugged by:
The steady stream of wealthy, influential older-old females featured in media, let’s say, 30’s-80’s, dressed up in skimpy spandex+rhinestones, botox, cosmetic surgeries, etc., etc., presented to children and teens as their peers, role models, idols.

What on earth?

In former times, teen musicians and others - WERE TEENS. Not billionaires.

When i was a child, my older siblings, 7-12 years older - seemed like old adults to me! Once in their 20’s, definitely.
30 was ancient. To me, that’s a healthy CHILD’s POV.

It’s worse than Congress. :-|

Copenhagen scientists proved: :geek:

astraworld2025 WROTE:
1️⃣ When scientists in Copenhagen began studying the effects of daily complaining on the brain, they expected mild mood changes. Instead, they found something alarming — people who complained more than five times a day showed reduced activity in the hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for memory and learning. The brain was literally shutting down its logic circuits to protect itself from negativity overload.

2️⃣ Over a three-month study, participants kept journals of their thoughts. Those who complained most often reacted slower and forgot simple tasks. Researchers called it “cognitive erosion” — the gradual dulling of mental sharpness caused by repeating the same negative emotion. Every complaint trains the brain to feel powerless.

3️⃣ Neuropsychologists explained that each negative statement activates the amygdala — the fear center. Repeating that process daily keeps the brain in low-grade panic. The result: lower dopamine, less creativity, and chronic fatigue. One phrase like “nothing ever works” can reduce mental energy by up to 8%.

4️⃣ In the second part of the experiment, participants were told to replace every complaint with the question “what can I do about it?” Within a month, their cognitive scores improved significantly. The brain doesn’t get tired of problems — it gets tired of inaction. Switching from reaction to creation resets its chemistry.

5️⃣ One man said, “I realized every complaint was stealing IQ points from me.” He stopped venting and started solving. The researchers concluded: mental hygiene doesn’t start with diet — it starts with language.

Please don't believe everything anything you read on Instagram. Vague claims like "scientists in Copenhagen" are not worth spending time on. There are abundant references on the web to a 1996 Stanford study about complaining and the hippocampus, but the study itself is nowhere to be found. Stanford, in case anyone is unaware, is not in Copenhagen.

It appears the following sentence is the main point of the Instagram post. If you do have to repost unsourced allegations, at least remove this sort of thing. It is not appropriate for this forum.
