Major attack on Israel by Hamas

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

Lots of Arab nations aren't at war with Israel (such as Jordan) and are, in fact, at peace with Israel.
Jews need to recognize Jesus as their long awaited Messiah.
As does every other people group.
Until they do they will continue to trust in their original Covenant. In fact Netanyahu brought that up this morning. Yes they are the “root” yet that root is in Jesus Christ. American Christians are divided on all this. It is strange though Satan still hates the Jews and America as Muslims chant death to both. Muslims believe they are to convert the world to Islam, as a mission in opposition to the Great Commission.
I don't think Satan somehow loves Muslims or hates Jewish people more than other people.

I think it's a bit of a caricature to say "Muslims chant death to both". My Muslim friends have considered us to be "people of the book". When I had a job in Israel, one of my Muslim coworkers and I got along especially well since neither of us drink alcohol or engage in drunkenness, so we often socialised together when everyone else was getting drunk. I also had a treasured friend who was an Arab Catholic. We all got along just fine and respected each other.
Okay I should have clarified “radical Islam” - you know the ones that burn people alive, behead people with nothing but a table knife, you have to consider a lot of Muslims aren’t radical Muslims. But for those who are they want nothing more than to completely destroy Christianity and Judaism and the people of both. They are waiting for their 12th Imam as we are waiting for the second advent of Christ. It is a belief of the Muslims that the whole world should be converted to Islam, but you have weak Muslims just like you have weak Christians in that regard.

A direct meeting between Witikoff & Kushner and Hamas sealed the peace deal apparently. The US had to directly negotiate with what it categorizes as a terrorist group in order to end the war.

President Trump honored them in his speech today in Jerusalem- he gave honor to where honor is due.

Yep. Hamas is the government of Gaza, democratically elected no less, and surprisingly popular. Whether any of us like it or not, that's who has to be negotiated with.

But the important negotiations are the ones happening with all the other Arab countries who would like to remain in the good graces of the western world, and just want lots of trade, money, and oil to flow, and are much less interested in apocalyptic martyrdom-driven crusades. They're the ones that put the real pressure on Hamas. The key was having people willing to negotiate and talk to both the important Arab players, like Qatar's leadership, and the Israelis as well. Putting pressure on the Israelis to tame their more extreme political parties was also pretty important; keep in mind one of the current coalition parties has as its stated party platform to expelling all Arabs from Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza (as if they have somewhere else to go).

All of that had already taken place by this meeting. Apparently the thing Hamas needed was for the US to give them a handshake assurance that Israel would actually cease its war if they in fact released the hostages.

I wonder if they regret October 7 yet.

If you listen to the hillary-condi interview, bottom of P.65, using diplomatic language, kinda long+boring, they predicted this type of ongoing violence, “pockets” of violence. Easy to imagine.

Look at U.S. cities. Thugs. Gangs. They sure rule the streets, while not stated as official government.
It has to be sorted out.

What i’m paying attention to is, agreed official language that HAMAS is NOT to lead or control,
the replacement is yet unnamed.

Certainly, if left to their own devices, HAMAS will not miss a beat, and relish restraint of Israel. Business as usual. Better than usual.
i expect that would be the “natural” outcome.

It’s the earliest days.
This is the beginning of Phase 1. There’s a 20 point plan?
i don’t think the official agreement has been made public. Are there 20 Phases? Don’t even know that.

Hearts of the citizens must want better. They must understand what better is, what’s required, or, ‘back to Square 1.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

i’m not aware HAMAS agreed. maybe now. i would never begin to guess what they’re thinking is, or intentions.
it’s truly time will tell. it’s nerve-wracking.

There are rumors of civil war inside Gaza now, as Hamas battles other groups who presumably want to control Gaza going forward. I don't think Hamas is just planning to go away. Hard to imagine how things settle down in Gaza without an outside peacekeeping force of some kind.
