Prior peace prize winners:
- Yasser Arafat, who had a history of operating a terrorist organization, and then ended up rejected an amazing peace deal which would granted full Palestinian statehood and instead presided over a return to even worse violence, culminating in Hamas and the Gaza disaster.
- Barack Obama, who after receiving it went on to randomly drone-strike countries around the world. (In fairness, he said he wasn’t sure why they gave it to him.)
Nobel Peace Prize
Re: Nobel Peace Prize
Some, including Trump himself, have brought up Donald Trump as a Nobel peace prize candidate. I think it’s important to recognize him for what he is – a dealmaker not a peacemaker.
Because of that, he can strike a peace plan in Gaza on the one hand, and on the other deploy troops on his own people in the same week. It’s mostly about power and transactional advantage, not moral leadership. He is not peace prize material as far as I’m concerned.

He’s not deploying NG to do anything but PREVENT killing and violence if you see what is actually happening. It may be you are not seeing the need to address the illegal immigrants, many of whom are criminals (one illegal was arrested in Portland the other day who is known pedophile) - so Trump is trying to keep peace and protect citizens too- I think everyone recognizes that except the far left. 2 people were killed the other day by someone trying to kill ICE servants- if anyone comes up with a better way to protect people speak to Trump- ANTIFA is on the move & so its imperative to protect people.Dan Z wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 10:55 am Some, including Trump himself, have brought up Donald Trump as a Nobel peace prize candidate. Unilateral strikes on other nations civilians, air based attacks on other nations without declaring war, deploying national guard without supporting of local government, active military support of one nation against another, provocative statements and actions against multiple sovereign nations…
Mind you, some of these have been done by other presidents but this isn’t peacemaking, this is aggressive diplomacy.
In terms of lawful war and military conduct, these things are appalling. In terms of US practice, pretty typical.

By this logic, any kind of military or violent police action is “peaceful.” Putin’s invasion could be called “peaceful” because it’s intended to prevent the expansion of NATO and to “prevent” Russia from being invaded.Valerie wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 12:43 pmHe’s not deploying NG to do anything but PREVENT killing and violence if you see what is actually happening. By DanZ’s logic, there would be no earthly Nobel Peace Prize.JohnH wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:49 am Prior peace prize winners:

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

It is next to impossible for any US president to be totally peaceful. As the only superpower in a world of violence, there will always be some actions of violence by a US president.
This is the 7th peace agreement that he has helped broker. That is saying something. He says often he does not like the loss of life. He constantly talks about the soldiers in Russia and Ukraine who are the ones paying the price of the war. He has pulled back a retaliatory strike on Iran because the collateral damage was too high. This was in his first term.
I do not see him as a peace president, but one working to stop wars. Wars kill large numbers. He sends in NG because of the death rates in the US cities and clearly says that is why he is doing it.
I don't care if they give him the peace prize. It has clearly been shown it is more political then anything else. I think it is important to speak the truth about who is working towards peace and reducing the loss of life. At times, the US does think the ends justify the means. I disagree, but I do recognize a desire to reduce death. That is a good thing.

Pakistan’s PM nominated him for the peace prize today. I am actually surprised at just how meaningful this “deal” is to the Arab and Muslim world.

The leader of Pakistan also said he is a man of peace and how many lives he saved by stopping the worst that he has there is a list that he has really put himself out there for.
I heard the other night that they hope a special award is created for him- he makes me feel like I waste too much time and life- he never stops- he’s receiving a special reward from Israel that no one outside of Israel has ever received. After so many years of the far left ridiculing him & MSM, I’m sure it makes him feel good to get do much appreciation by so many. Since I’ve been able to follow him and listen to his speeches and interviews a lot more lately it makes me feel really touched that he gives so many people thanks and appreciation for what they do. He really does love a lot of people. I guess I was just used to him only Criticizing what he called the swamp.
