Remember when undershepherd had a goal of traveling IRL to meet as many forum members possible?
i wonder if he continues at all? and, what his list looks like.
i enjoyed meeting his wife, too.

I took a shower at work today. Not intentionally. Two pipes were poking out of the grown. One has a shut off, for the line into the old pump. The other was capped off but the outflow from the pump to the sprinkler system. Shut off was closed. I decided to unscrew the capped outflow pipe that was doing nothing. Turns out it was the inflow with 1 1/2 pipe with about 60 pounds of pressure. I got a steam about 6' high. I quickly tried to screw the pipe back on. The water pressure had a different idea. I was soaked all the way through.
Two things.
1. No sprinkler system needs a 1 1/2" pipe for flow.
2. You always put the shut off on the pressure side.
3. Make sure you have someone along with you to help you run to the main shut off.

I installed 1 1/2” pipe to supply my underground sprinkler system.

I hear ya. I’m sorry you had to endure that.
It’s frustrating the stuff we come across in the plumbing. A few years back I noticed a slow leak in the basement that was from the drain pipe for an upstairs shower. Turns out that when the previous owners renovated the bathroom, the drain collar was cracked by the subcontractor who installed the fiberglass shower stall. Those surprises are never fun.

That is a lot of flow. Farms may need that, but most residential homes has a 3/4" or 1" main line coming in. I am sure it is okay to use 1 1/2" pipe, but I think it is overdone, especially since I had to take a 1 1/2" shower.

My driver license expires soon.
i’ve been fretting about it for a year, mostly because of eye surgery last year.
i was sure i’d need a vision test, written test, maybe road test.
My dr gave me a letter for the eye test.
Also, they want RealID.
Got a letter for online renewal, $5.
i’m not sure about RealID. i’ll call tomorrow.
It looks like i can do that separately, also $5.
i have a passport, so not urgent. i think.

I hope you didn't catch cold. Did you build and ark?
I don't have another smoking until next weekend. My City Friend came over and I showed him the basics and some tips. It's really not that hard to smoke meat with this electric unit. If I can do it I think anyone can. All it takes is patience which is probably why I get some business from folks who don't have the smoker or the patience.
