With all due respect, I can post many examples of retributive, apocalyptic, and violent rhetoric from conservatives in response to Kirk’s assassination. Some of it has even come from people I’ve interacted with before. But I’d rather not pollute this space with that toxicity.
Emotions are running high these days, and I can imagine that there are those who wish retributive, apocalyptic, and violent rhetoric against those who rejoiced at Kirk's death. However, ALL violent rhetoric needs to be condemned, whether conservative or liberal.

But here are some facts:
24% of self-described liberals believe it is acceptable to be happy about the death of a political opponent.
3% self-described conservatives believe the same.
26% young liberals believe violence is justified against political opposition.
7% of young conservatives say the same.

If this needs to be moved to "Bunny Trails", that is okay.

I am not saying this is not so- but could you please site your source? Sadly these days we can find facts/percentages or statistics to say what we want so just wanted to know your source. Anymore I am having a difficult time believing many things on all sides of the picture because you can always find other sources that are the opposite.

The stats came from a speech JD Vance made yesterday. If you want more sources, I can attempt to search for them.

People who are making appreciative comments about Kirk's death on social media are getting fired or suspended.

Slight correction: it's no longer safe to express conservative opinions as it once was.

It continues to be completely safe to express liberal opinions, as liberal commentators aren't getting assassinated for that.

Was there ever a time someone could expect to continue to be employed and not socially ostracized for celebrating an assassination that amounts to domestic terrorism?

This is simply something that hasn't been happening since the 1960s. We have not dealt with assassinations in America in my lifetime.

I don't know about the history. I just think it is good that people need to give account for their words.

Have seen nothing like that at all. All I’ve heard from conservatives is to love- and continue what Charlie started. I think line Grace pointed out the glaring difference between Gloyds death & reactions, and Charlie’s.
Thanks Valerie. Both George Floyd and Charlie Kirk did not deserve to die. Both men had children, Floyd has a young daughter, and the Kirks have two little children, which someday will have to face the hard truth on how their dads died. And I find that extremely sad for the innocent children.

My point in the prior post was to point out the differences in the responses to the deaths of these two men, which reflect a big difference.
I have noticed some similarities in these two events. Both inspire supporters who focus only on the favorable things these men did while saying it is wrong or dishonorable to mention bad things about them, and at the same time suggesting it is necessary or truthful to point out the dishonorable things about the other.

I see them both as people, complex, a combination of good and bad, just like me.

Unless you really understood what Charlie Kirk was trying to accomplish, especially at college campuses where young people are basically brainwashed, you wouldn’t possibly differentiate the difference. Of course neither deserved to die! I just am defending Charlie Kirk was spending his life since 18yo trying to make a difference in the lives of people, and when you hear the testimonies of so many that his influenced caused them to seek truth, to find out if there really is a true and living God, etc then you ei understand why the enemy’s our soul wanted him dead.

This is an area I think CAs might not relate to but I’ve known so many parents that raised their children in the Faith who sent them to college where they were influenced and turned away from God. Or belief he exists.

We must remember the communists said decades ago they would get to Americans without firing a shot- which the educational institutions are accomplishing. Charlie saw this snd God was using him to break through.

A problem continues about differences in reporting.
It’s incredulous how efficiently msm remains in ignoring whatever they choose. Also how they easily magnify what they choose.

March For Life is a prime example. Virtually ignored in msm. A death sentence?! - no.
It goes on, year after year, unconcerned about msm. Impressive.

We may be in process of witnessing improved balance in msm, in education, in government. A trifecta!

For me, a full circle moment.
When i was young, it was conservatives that seemed dominant, evil, libs wildly protesting. Christianity was NOT in favor.
Now reversed. Reversing. i hope.

To repeat, no group is INHERENTLY better than the other. All human, all fallible.
In any given moment, the most dominant one is most likely to be in need of a reset, shall we say?!

Change is awkward. History is full of it.

Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth 1967 / -3min

They look like babies. :)
They were old to me.

How strange to listen to this old song now thinking of throngs of young Christians gathering in streets world wide.
few political flags. almost none. i did not foresee this IN MY LIFETIME.

In the day, the throngs were antiwar, antiChristian, anti everything they knew. [i was decidedly antiwar.]
Rebellion for antiwar, however, truth be known, a lot was for the joy of rebellion. The joy of fornication, the joy of recreational drugs. The joy of carnal sin. i could not understand all these other things. turning on “everything?!”

i was ‘way too sober to believe all that. not unaffected! but. not buying into it. too sober. not sufficiently entitled.

Full circle.

- - - - - - -

To repeat, the recent warm reception of Pope Leo, much by young Catholics, gathering in streets, was also impressive.

It sure appears young people are searching for more than carnal self-indulgence. At scale.
